ALT In The International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, Schmermund & team compared a software-independent long-axis strain (LAS) with automated feature-tracking in 209 patients with pulmonary hypertension who underwent both rest and exercise right-heart catheterisation plus cardiac MRI. Their data published at The #IJCVI returned several key findings: * Strong correlation between LAS and feature-tracking (LA r=0.78, LV r=0.83) * At rest, LA LAS matched LA reservoir strain for detecting elevated PCWP: both Good AUC of 0.81! * For latent left-heart involvement unmasked only on exercise, feature-tracking LA strain remained superior. Ludovica Carerj, Julia Treiber, Michael Marber, Till Keller & Valentina O. Puntmann Myocardial oedema (T2 mapping) emerged as the strongest independent predictor of MACE in multivariable Cox regression (model χ² = 81.64, p < 0.001), outperforming hs-Troponin T and LGE. T2 retained prognostic value in patients without LGE (χ² = 17.27, p < 0.001) and in troponin-negative patients (χ² = 20.70, p < 0.001), where LGE lost significance.
