Advancing Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Kenya’s Airports
The Commission in partnership with the @IOMKenya have today held a technical planning meeting at Mövenpick Hotel, Nairobi, to advance preparations for a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Audit across seven airports in Kenya.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the two institutions to review and finalise audit tools tailored to the operational environments of the selected airports, clarify the Commission's role in the exercise, and agree on an implementation schedule. Discussions also covered the next phases of the audit, including fieldwork, data collection and validation, report preparation and the eventual launch of the findings.
Airports serve people from diverse backgrounds, including women, men, children, persons with disabilities, older members of society and other groups with different accessibility and service needs.
Ensuring that airport facilities, services, policies and operational practices respond to these diverse needs is essential to promoting equal access, dignity, safety and inclusion.

Today, I paid a courtesy visit to IOM Kenya the International Organization for Migration, the UN agency leading on migration management to explore potential areas of collaboration with the Football Kenya Federation.
I held discussions with Ms. Nomagugu Ncube, Chief of Mission, IOM Kenya, Mr. Ethan Way, Monitoring, Evaluation and Risk Management Officer, and Ms. Jennifer Githegi, Senior Associate, Policy and Coordination.
Given football's vast reach, we see a great opportunity to raise awareness on human trafficking, safeguard young players from exploitation through fraudulent overseas opportunities, and amplify safe migration messages within our communities.
Through a potential partnership, FKF and IOM Kenya seek to harness the power of football as a platform for awareness, prevention and protection.
