Being kept around is not the same as being chosen. You can always feel the difference. Being kept around means someone gives you just enough attention to keep you there, just enough affection to keep you hopeful and just enough effort to make you question whether you’re asking for too much. But being chosen feels different. You don’t have to constantly wonder where you stand, overanalyse every interaction or convince yourself that the bare minimum means something more. Someone can enjoy your presence, miss you when you’re gone and still not be willing to give you the relationship you deserve. Don’t confuse someone wanting access to you with someone genuinely wanting to build a life with you. You deserve to be chosen, not simply kept around because you’re convenient.
