Grateful to have Coach Washington, an Emeritus member of the Private School Coaches Clinic and the current Defensive Coordinator at McMurry University, back with us this year alongside the McMurry defensive staff to once again share with coaches in our 11-Man pathway.
We’re thankful for Coach Washington’s continued investment in private school football and for the support of McMurry Football. We appreciate all they do for our coaching community and wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season!
@IamCoachWash
We’re excited to welcome Coach Correy Washington and the McMurry University Defensive Staff to the 2026 Private School Coaches Clinic.

McMurry Cover 3 Principles
Coach Washington enters the clinic with an impressive track record of building successful defensive programs. In his first season as Defensive Coordinator at McMurry, he led the War Hawks to the top defense in the SCAC, ranking first in total defense while also leading the conference in sacks, tackles for loss and third and fourth down efficiency. Before joining McMurry, Washington helped lead Brazos Christian to a 12–1 record, District, Area and Regional Championships and a State Runner-Up finish in 2024. His previous work at Brentwood Christian also helped establish one of TAPPS’ top defensive units.
We’re excited to have Coach Washington and the McMurry Defensive Staff joining us to share their approach to Cover 3 principles and give coaches practical insight they can take back to their own programs.

A champion mentality takes total responsibility for outcomes, while a victim mentality blames outside forces for circumstances.
Victim mentality- doesn’t want feedback, won’t admit faults, makes excuses and complains.
“May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
Psalms 19:14
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Galatians 1:10
