I piece I drew to use as a cover for the Tapas.io mirror of Smallscale I just published! I figured Tapas was a better place to post Smallscale as an original story than AO3.

Hazbin Hotel fans following me again are going to be real disappointed to see I haven't drawn Hazbin content in almost a year.
My current hyperfixations is DC/Marvel stuff and Ghostbusters. That's what you'll get for a while if you follow me rn.
My Halloween piece this year is based on my favorite horror movie, Re-Animator. I just love this little freak.

Some Egons, cause he has the silliest design out of the bunch and I love him.

PINK CICADA!! colors on recently molted cicadas are often very bright and don’t always correspond to the color of their exoskeleton after they darken and harden over time

The worst feeling in the world is seeing an incredibly edgy, racist comment on a post, and then seeing THIS when you go to block them.
Get the fuck off of my page, you gross weirdos.

Something I've realized as I get older is its never too late to try old media for the first time.
This last year I've been watching all sorts of stuff from the 80s and 90s I did not grow up with myself, and its been a real treat.

Insect feet mostly are a short chain of tarsal segments ending in claws. Some end in a single hook. Some carry paired claws, padded lobes, combs of spines, or dense fields of adhesive hairs. Same class of structure. Completely different solutions.
At this magnification the differences stop looking ornamental. The foot is where an insect meets the surface, and the surface is never one thing. Bark, leaf, flower, prey, soil, and the body of another insect each ask for a different grip. Claws lock into roughness. Pads and setae hold on smoothness. Spines brace, rake, or keep the leg from slipping sideways. A foot built for walking is not a foot built for holding, climbing, or seizing.
Comparative work across orders shows that segment count, claw shape, pad size and the hairs between them occupy a very large design space. There is no single hidden insect foot underneath the variation. The legs we notice first are usually the long ones, or the ones with colour. The working end is easier to miss. That range is old. Once legs could specialise, the tip split into hooks, cushions, brushes, and tools that are barely feet at all. Joints, sockets, pigment and structural colour repeat as themes, not as copies.
This is why insect feet keep rewarding extreme macro work. The subject is not rarity. It is variability packed into millimetres.
