The da’wah of Shaykh Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb reached far beyond Najd, extending into the lands of al-Shām and as far east as the Indian subcontinent. Scholars such as Shaykh ʿAlī al-Tanṭāwī, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Fattāh Abū Ghuddah and Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Arnāʾūt admired his works and defended his da’wah. Likewise, Indian scholars were some of the first who played an important role in publishing his works, while even prominent scholars of the Deobandī tradition praised and defended him, clarifying misconceptions surrounding his da’wah.
Shaykh Ali al-Tantawi, the Syrian scholar, judge and writer loved across the Arab world, wrote a book on Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab. Calling him a mujaddid, he said: "He was more deserving of that title than anyone it has been given to in our history."

In this picture I am sitting with one of the great scholars of Somalia, Shaykh Abdulkarim Hassan Hoosh. The Shaykh is deeply rooted in knowledge. Over the years he has taught many of the Islamic sciences. His speciality is usul al-fiqh, and he is also firmly grounded in tafsir and much more. But that is not why I am sharing this. It was the last ten nights of Ramadan in Makkah. We had just prayed Taraweeh and Tahajjud in the Haram, and on our way back we sat down together on these steps. The Shaykh has never filmed himself and has never allowed his face to be photographed. To the crowds passing by, he was simply an elderly man resting after prayer. While we sat there, a group of people came up to me with questions. They wanted rulings on various matters. Beside me sat a giant of knowledge, and not one of them turned to him. They did not know who he was. To them he was anonymous. I was struck by it. SubhanAllah, we live in a time when fame and popularity have become the measure of whom we ask and whom we consult. Those brothers cannot be blamed for not recognising him. But the moment showed me something: a man can carry an ocean of knowledge and pass unnoticed, while others are sought out because they are seen. Yet in sha' Allah, he is known to Allah for the good he has done for this Ummah, and that is the recognition that truly matters. My brothers and sisters, too often we decide whom to respect and from whom to take knowledge by how well known they are, rather than by what they carry. Let us not build our religion on who is famous, who is popular, or whose name everyone recognises, while the true people of knowledge sit among us unseen. As Imam Muhammad ibn Sirin said: "This knowledge is religion, so look carefully at whom you take your religion from." Knowledge is not fame. Popularity is not scholarship. May Allah preserve Shaykh Abdulkarim and all the hidden scholars of this Ummah, and grant us the wisdom to recognise and honour them.

From the astounding female scholars in Fiqh who excelled in their Madhabs Fatima al-Samarqandiyah the Hanafi Shaykha (d.500H) Fatima al-Baghdadiyyah the Hanbali Shaykha (d.714H) May Allah have mercy upon them. Woman didn’t just excel in Hadith, they also excelled in Fiqh

Shaykh Ahmad an-Najmī رحمه الله The saying "Testing is a bid'ah" meaning that you test a man to know 'is from ahlus sunnah or not?' The masses are upon general Islaam so we dont test any individual - except if he opposes the maddhab of ahlus sunnah, then we test who he's from
Why did you not attack Shaykh Saleh Fawzan hafidhahullah too? He explains the principle in his sharh under the chapter of... Wait for it... "Testing is bid'ah" 😲 He states the asl is husn dhan and not testing the people - exactly what Shaykh Uthman explained 🤔

There are legitimate criticisms of Islamic finance institutions, but some important distinctions are being overlooked. Sukuk are not a single financial product. They can be structured through Ijarah, Mudarabah, Musharakah and other contracts, each governed by different Shariah principles. Crucially, we must understand why certain Sukuk were criticised. Much of the criticism concerned capital guarantees in particular investment structures. A fatwa addressing contractual defects prevalent at the time does not automatically apply to every Sukuk, particularly where those defects are absent or the structures have since changed. Three important juristic principles are relevant here: الحكم على الشيء فرع عن تصوره: A ruling requires properly understanding the transaction. We cannot judge all Sukuk as though they share the same structure. الحكم يدور مع علته وجودًا وعدمًا: A ruling follows its underlying legal cause. We must establish whether the defect prompting prohibition exists in other structures. تغيّر الفتوى بتغيّر مناطها: A fatwa may change when the underlying facts upon which it was based change. Furthermore, العبرة في العقود للمقاصد والمعاني لا للألفاظ والمباني establishes that contracts are judged by their substantive realities, not merely their names or outward forms. Economic resemblance to conventional finance does not, by itself, establish that a transaction constitutes riba. That requires examining its actual contractual structure, ownership and liabilities. As for Commodity Murabahah, there are legitimate scholarly objections to organised Tawarruq, but this must be distinguished from other forms of Murabahah and Tawarruq that may be permissible. Similarly, sale and leaseback is not prohibited in every form. Its ruling depends on genuine ownership, the allocation of liabilities, the contractual conditions and any repurchase arrangements. Nor is it accurate to suggest that scholarly criticism achieved nothing. Criticism of certain Sukuk structures contributed to changes in AAOIFI's standards, even if questions remain about implementation across the industry. Criticism is welcome, and the industry's practices are not flawless. However, declaring that Islamic finance has rendered Shariah and its scholars irrelevant is a sweeping conclusion that overlooks these important juristic distinctions.
What I find interesting is such a senior scholar has publicly criticised Sukuk (saying most are not Shariah compliant) - and nothing changed. In this interview he also criticised Commodity Murabaha (which is the most widely used product globally in Islamic finance) and sale and leaseback - which is the mainstay of Sukuk. These are used to directly replicate Riba. And scholars all over the world continue to pronounce them Shariah compliant. We have created a global Islamic finance industry that even scholars regret and cannot force change. It’s sad to say but scholars have become irrelevant in opposing the (since origin) the relentless drive of Islamic finance to Riba And each step of this drive is approved by the same scholars. I have no other way to explain this other than Islamic finance has made our Shariah and our Scholars irrelevant.

Inviting people to Islam must be done according to the Shari’ah. That being said, it is not acceptable for any Muslim to throw and hurl insults, or mock the sister. I would advise this sister to seriously reconsider her approach to da’wah, and follow the example of the noble female sahabiyat and female scholars.
My intention has always been to invite people to Islam. I understand that certain moments can be taken out of context or come across differently than intended. I always strive to conduct myself with modesty, dignity, and Islamic etiquette. Some of the comments I’ve seen from so-called Muslim men have been disgusting, vile, and completely unacceptable. It is perfectly fine to voice disagreement without resorting to disrespecting me or my loved ones. I sincerely hope this is not how you would choose to advise your Muslim sisters going forward. In the context of the conversation, it was evident that I was referring to the topic of debating and did not intend anything other than such. May Allah guide us all and keep our intentions sincere.

New video: Shaykh Ahmed Yare on the preservation of the Sunnah. How did Allah preserve the words of His Messenger ﷺ, and how did the scholars of hadith protect them across the centuries? A powerful reminder of the care that went into transmitting this religion, and why the Sunnah stands as a firm proof alongside the Qur'an. Watch, benefit and share, inshaAllah: youtu.be/GfhAcM_GI7E?si=-sGg…

Shaykh Sālih Āl al-Shaykh said: “I do not know an issue in which it is said: ‘Imām Abū Hanīfah has no evidence for it,’ or ‘Imām Ahmad has no evidence for it,’ or ‘Imām Mālik has no evidence for it.’ Each one of them does not say a statement, nor go to a position, 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.”

The person who tweeted this nonsense and tried to frame as if Shaykh Faysāl al-Jāsim affirms apostasy for the two noble scholars Sa’d al-Shitri and Walid al-Su’aydan has since deleted the tweet We reached out to Shaykh Faysāl and he responded: “I seek refuge in Allah from this! How could I declare the scholars to be disbelievers?!” He then clarified the issue. And just so you know, Shaykh Sa’d and Shaykh Walid also hold this position. So I don’t know what the person who tweeted this is implying.
