In email marketing, you have 3 main tasks:
1. Get the email opened
2. Hold the reader's attention
3. Convince them to take action
That's it.
Strip away all the fluffy advice and your writing will be way more effective.

Email Marketers:
Make sure your email has ONE primary goal.
Don’t ask them to buy a product…
And read your blog…
And share a tweet.
One primary goal. One purpose. One CTA.
This is how you create effective emails.

Quick Copywriting Tip
Talk about benefits in the present not the past.
So instead of:
• This produced an endless supply of leads.
You’d write:
• This produces an endless supply of leads.
As your audience wants to know it works now.

People focus on email design, but strong copy is key.
Great writing captivates and drives action.

If you want your writing to grab and keep the prospect's attention...
Keep in mind that people love books, TV shows and movies with plenty of ACTION.
So embrace the mindset of being an ACTION copywriter.
Don’t just present static facts, assertions and explanations.
Sure, you can do all that. But do it in the context of people actually DOING and EXPERIENCING things.
Best of all, bring in conflict, such as clashing ideas or viewpoints… the struggle to develop the product… the battle between the prospect achieving or not achieving what they desire.
Legendary copywriter Eugene Schwartz suggested watching the highest-grossing action movies and noticing how they keep you riveted for hours.
One of the things they do, for example, is to have a fight break out — or something blow up — every few minutes.
Do likewise, he recommended, in your writing.
When you review your copy, don’t just look at what is being said.
Look at what is HAPPENING.
