OPSWAT's proposed framework for a US critical infrastructure executive order includes one specific rule: no critical controller should be directly exposed to the internet. The Minnesota attacks showed what happens when that rule is ignored, attackers changed PLC settings remotely and caused flooding. Partner content with @OPSWAT. #opswat_ics

Do you understand branch circuit general requirements, conductor sizing, and overcurrent protection?
General Requirements
The branch circuit is defined as the conductors between the final overcurrent protective device (OCPD) protecting the circuit and the outlets. Branch circuits account for most circuits run in any electrical installation, so you must be familiar with these rules. It is crucial to understand what a branch circuit is, where it starts, and where it ends to apply many of these rules properly.
Article 210 provides the general requirements for branch circuits. These include requirements for receptacle outlets, lighting outlets, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection, identification, and GFCI/AFCI protection.
Branch Circuit Conductor Sizing
Branch-circuit conductors must have an ampacity no less than the calculated load and must have an ampacity no less than 125 percent of the continuous loads, plus 100 percent of the noncontinuous loads [210.19(A)(1)].
Branch Circuit Overcurrent Protection
The overcurrent protective device must have an ampere rating not less than 125 percent of the continuous loads, plus 100 percent of the noncontinuous loads [210.20(A)].

Well stated, as usually.
Also spot on with this conversation.
Mike Rowe: “You don’t have to be an economist to look around and see $1.7 trillion in outstanding student loans on the books [and] 10 million open jobs, most of which don’t require a 4-year degree but training.”
“Once upon a time, we had this thing in school called shop class.
I can’t think of a dumber thing in the history of modern education than removing shop class from high school.
But we didn’t just flip the switch. It used to be called the vocational arts. The first thing we did was we changed the name, we took the art out of it.
We promoted one form of education at the expense of all the others. It wasn’t just enough to say, ‘go get a 4-year degree, go be a doctor, go be an engineer.’
What we started telling kids was, ‘if you don’t do that, you’re gonna get stuck turning a wrench,’ or some sort of vocational consolation prize.
That was a powerful message, it was a damning message, it resonated with a whole generation of kids.
It’s pressing, because we’re still lending money we don’t have to kids who are never gonna be able to pay it back to train them for a bunch of jobs that, frankly, aren’t in demand anymore.
I’ve done a million [3-5 minute segments]. The fact that you guys are gonna spend an hour talking about this, that’s the beginning.”

The pace is ridiculous. Imagine people still doing this instead of machines.
Renishaw’s system is one of the biggest shifts in coordinate-measuring machines (CMMs). Instead of moving the entire machine to capture each point, REVO uses a 5-axis scanning head that collects data through rapid angular motion.
Combined with automated probe and stylus changes, the system can handle complex geometries and full surface scans that traditionally required slow, point-by-point probing.
