okay, let me explain: Gen AI writing fanfiction instead of actual human writers - BAD. VERY BAD. AI automating a menial, repetitive, soul-sucking task that no human should have to spend 3 hours doing - GOOD. EXCELLENT, ACTUALLY. hope this helps xoxox

Good. And this is a super reasonable policy. A huge and unreasonable burden for itchio, and more so for those who handcrafted their games, tools and assets. It's really unfair for their work to be drowned out by passionless slop.

I'd suggest a cheap upload fee. It sucks a lot to have to push that to a cash strapped Indie but a cheap upload fee per game page might help. Also help you guys deal with server costs too.

‘You’re just an AI HATER!’ No. AI is software without intelligence or function. If you run a localised LLM on your pc and train it on open source data and your own work, I’m happy for you to do so. I’m even happy for you to use it to generate assets and shit for stuff you make. Because everything it manufactures comes from shit you have ownership of or permission to use. I love the idea of localised AI as a support tool for streamlining work output. What I hate is the intentional misuse of the technology by morally and ethically bankrupt supercorpos, the intrinsic data scraping practices employed therein that turns my private searches into data commodities, in addition to the wilful destruction of fiscal, land and water resources trying to chase the big AI money. The software isn’t the issue. You people who insist on abusing the technology are.

Kind of sad Unreal engine was good. I know a good chunk of devs really leaned in on the visual scripting because you could avoid C++ unless you really needed it. Now it's a slop cannon.
