🚨New video🚨 There's a new trend in China - genuine off-roaders. And by off-road, we're including on-water. Because Geely's first off-roader also swims in addition to taking on the rocky steep stuff with serious conviction. Is it challenger, pretender, or leader? Link below👇

That's 20 cars driven. Corolla, Sakura, Racco, YU7 GT, Expert, C3 Aircross, MONA L03, ET, Omoda 9, Freelander 8, Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, V25, V27, Omoda 4, Omoda 7, QQ3, Nammi, M9, and today's car (a secret). I'm starting to believe it's possible to have too much car in your life.

Yes! This is what I've said for ages that Hongqi needs to be. A top dog, ambitious, bold brand, with flagship specs. They're China's flag bearer. This a 4-motor monster. Quite an impressive safety test, this. Not sure I'd like to be the socks in this particular washing machine.

Just spotted Chery's first kei car on the back of a truck in Wuhu. Probably a little too excited to see it.

Dear lord. I take it back, the Jaguar Type 01 will be totally fine. This looks like an XPeng G7 with an ugly face pasted on. This might, hopefully is, peak ugly for Merc, but wow do they keep lowering that bar.

Bloody hell, these are ridiculous prices for this car. Starting at RMB 169,900 (£19.1k) for the dual motor 305km EV-only range and rising to RMB 359,800 (£40.6k) for the all-singing, all-dancing, all-floating edition. Unreal stuff.

Somehow it's far less attractive than the concept when you see them side-by-side. The fawning in some corners of the British press about how "no other company could have done this" is a bit saccharine too. What exactly is the innovation? Panel bending and battery placement?

Check the names in this picture. I think even five years ago you couldn't have imagined a Chinese brand sitting alongside these neighbours and yet here we are in 2026.

Is Zotye back from the dead? In recent days the brand's social media has sprung back to life with claims that the international version of the Wink Y01 is heading for production. It seems they plan to skip the domestic market for now. Colour me somewhat sceptical.

Had a chat with my taxi driver this morning. He'd been on the job since 3am and I, at 7.30, was his first job of the day. I asked him was this normal, and he replied that since the war in Iran taxi business had declined massively in the UAE, to the point drivers barely earn...

Just 20 dirham for the driver, or about £4. Drivers work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week because the operators know they have no other choice. It's either that or go back to Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, or Africa to try and make money there. For me, it was a sign that the...

War in Iraq is having far wider consequences than Americans paying $4 a gallon for fuel, and the rest of us even more. It's actively affecting livelihoods in the Middle East that depend on tourism. Also the taxi drivers get one hell of a raw deal.
