Today, @MulagoReferral held its first General Cleaning Day, uniting staff from across the hospital in a collective effort to promote a clean & healthy healthcare environment.
Held under the theme “A Clean Mulago is Our Civic Duty and Essential for Public Health,” the exercise reinforced that maintaining a clean hospital is a shared responsibility.
As the country prepares to observe the National Cleaning Exercise tomorrow (held every last Saturday of the month), Mulago has taken an additional step by introducing a dedicated General Cleaning Day for all hospital staff every last Friday of the month.
This initiative reaffirms our commitment to providing a clean, safe and healthy environment for patients, staff and visitors, while strengthening infection prevention.

High blood pressure is the leading risk factor for stroke. Nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure, and many don’t know it. Getting your blood pressure checked is an important step toward understanding your risk. Talk with your health care professional about your numbers.

The Permanent Secretary , Dr. @DianaAtwine, has called for a shift to a “Test and Treat” approach for Viral Hepatitis, similar to Uganda’s successful HIV treatment model. 🇺🇬
Speaking at the Hepatitis Symposium at the ongoing #JASH2026, she stressed the need to:
✅ Expand access to hepatitis medicines at lower-level health facilities
💉 Strengthen vaccination coverage
🤱🏾 Prioritise prevention of mother-to-child transmission
The goal is timely treatment, reduced transmission and prevention of life-threatening complications like Liver cirrhosis and Liver Cancer.
