Speak the obvious, that a man is not a woman, and that female staff should not have to undress in front of men, & the institutions that exist to protect you go quiet, or turn on you. Peggie paid her union dues for three decades. When she needed the RCN, it would not defend a female nurse’s right to a single-sex changing room. That is what institutional capture looks like and we know it all too well in Ireland. Women are expected to absorb the cost in privacy, dignity and safety while officials talk about “inclusion” & activists set the terms of what may be said. The man in the women’s space is framed as vulnerable; the woman who objects is framed as cruel. That is how women are silenced & sidelined without anyone having to admit they have abandoned sex-based rights. Ireland has its own omertà. The Gender Recognition Act was rushed through with little scrutiny. Self-ID became settled dogma. State-funded NGOs, large parts of the media, and too many unions and professional bodies still treat biological reality as unsayable. Why is that? Fear of cancellation? RTÉ will not give gender-critical women a fair hearing. Government will not engage. Ask about prisons, refuges, sport, schools or hospital changing rooms and the shutters come down. “Toxic culture wars” is used as a gag.@MichealMartinTD At the end of the day, biological sex is still binary and immutable.
