Tulsi Gabbard and I were in Damascus to meet with Bashar al-Assad within a couple of weeks of each other in 2017. We came away with very different takes. spytalk.co/p/tulsi-gabbard-b…

The inimitable @zachsdorfman explains how a story he, @SeanDNaylor and I did 5 years ago was responsible for Pete Hegseth becoming SecDEF (or SecWAR) -- thanks to Tucker Carlson! - and likely first candidate to be impeached if D's retake the House (For full interview check out the @talk_spy pod.)

Interesting who gets @AGToddBlanche’s attention
Laura, you should be transparent with your followers, and you are dead wrong about Stanley. He is a patriot who is fighting for POTUS and the American people every day. Decisions in cases like Camp Lejeune are made by me, ODAG, Stanley’s team, the civil division and the trial team, consulting with and keeping the White House counsel’s office and DOW updated along the way. We love our veterans and we want to get these cases right. Find a different obsession other than going after one of DOJ’s best fighters.

How far we've come. In Florida on Thursday, @JDVance said Dem Senate candidate Angie Nixon, a DSA member, should "get the hell out of here. You don't belong in America if those are your views." Quite the contrast with another former Republican senator from Ohio who rose to higher office (1) truthout.org/articles/vance-…

In 1921, President Warren G. Harding Harding granted clemency to Eugene Debs, the former Socialist candidate for President who had been imprisoned by the Wilson admin on Espionage Act violations. He then invited him to the White House. "I've heard so much about you, Mr. Debs, that I am now glad to meet you personally," he told him. Different era, very different man. washingtonpost.com/history/2…

And here's the backup spytalk.co/p/saudi-ties-to-9…
In 24 years of watching 9/11 memorials and the reading of the names of the dead, I have never heard applause. This morning the crowd did — because one brave widow, @TerrySStrada, looked at the leaders in front of her and refused to let the day pass in silence. She called out Saudi Arabia’s role, the broken promises, and a string of administrations that protected the Kingdom instead of helping to deliver justice for the families. A stunning, must-watch minute. Stand with the families.

Thanks @jobywarrick for a very cool interview-- and a great book!
My old WaPo buddy Jeff Stein and his friends at SpyTalk have one of the best podcasts around on national security matters. Thanks @SpyTalker @KarenGreenberg3 @Isikoff for a great conversation about my new book "The Jackal" and how Carlos's generation shaped modern terrorism!

You obviously have never listened to the song. My point was precisely the opposite - with a bit of irony. Hope that doesn’t offend your sensibilities.
Replying to @Isikoff
What a moriønic take. He was President, what did he accomplish that the DSA was pushing for? Nice propaganda though.

Very interesting that The Beatles’ Revolution is on there. It was quite controversial in leftist circles back in the day. Is there a message (the DSA?) in there?
Here are some of the songs I've been listening to this summer. It starts with a song Michelle and I love by Glen Hansard, a great musician who passed tragically this week. Our hearts go out to his family.

Lennon apparently hated Obla-di Obla-da. Meanwhile why are George’s significant contributions ignored: - While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Savoy Truffle - Piggies - Mother Nature’s Son

It’s not like Lennon was a slacker on The White Album: “Happiness is a Warm Gun” (anticipating the medley on Abbey Road), “I’m So Tired,” “Dear Prudence” and “Julia” (the opening line a classic) are all kickass songs.
"The White Album Paul McCartney's Medley", The Beatles, 1968.
