Thank you, Rt. Hon. @Thomas_Tayebwa, for representing H.E. @KagutaMuseveni and for honouring IBASCO at 60. As Old Boys, we are proud of our school’s legacy and excited about the Skilling Centre as we look to the next 60 years.

Today, I represented H.E. @KagutaMuseveni at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Ibanda Secondary School. On his behalf, I also laid a foundation stone for the school’s new Skilling Centre, which will equip our young people with practical skills to create opportunities, fight poverty and participate meaningfully in the money economy.
The President commended the school administration, teachers, founders, the Church and the wider community for working tirelessly over the past 60 years to build a school that has stood the test of time. He thanked the Church for its historic contribution to education in Uganda, noting that the partnership between Government and religious institutions in the education sector remains a beacon for the country.
I was impressed by the school’s achievements in discipline, academic excellence, quality education and sports.
I was also happy to find that the school wasn’t just celebrating the past. It is preparing for the next 60 years through the establishment of the Skilling Centre. This is the kind of investment we need to equip our young people with practical skills that can improve their livelihoods and contribute to our country’s economic transformation.
I also used the moment to caution the people of Ibanda against the politics of identity. Such divisions can damage communities and even undermine the Church.
Congratulations to the students, staff, alumni, parents and founders of Ibanda Secondary School, as well as the entire Ibanda community, for contributing to building a school that everyone can be proud of.
