La gente es tan estúpida que se queja porque se conmemora el 2 de octubre, pero debemos ser conscientes de nuestro pasado para que ningún gobierno nos haga eso de nuevo

once again: intersectionality is the only thing that will save us. there is no hope of trans liberation or achieving class consciousness without the liberation of black, brown & indigenous people all over the world. we need to get even more loudly anti-racist & anti-imperialist

I used to write papers about this and my profs would often be shocked on just how bad it it
Replying to @rat7renchcoat
The indigenous cultural erasure in Quebec is quite dark when you visit. No language representation, no historical mention beyond breaking bread with the colonists. They prioritize Catholic French visibility over everyone past or present

I do acknowledge that Anglos are racist against other euros but this whole convo while so many Indigenous languages are down to their last 10-50-100 speakers feels kinda like that meme with the skeleton in the pool
it really irritates me when people make fun of quebec's language policies because it means you don't understand the history. people speaking french in department stores in montreal were reprimanded to "speak white!" as recently as the 1950s!

Quebec's treatment of Indigenous people is so scandalous the U.N. rebuked the province multiple times, describing living conditions as 'overwhelmingly abhorrent.' Indigenous people are 27 times as likely to be homeless in Montreal vs a settler, in the coldest city in N. America
Constantly bringing up French settlers treatment of the native population to undermine Québécois identity and heritage is not the gotcha you think it is at all. Just shows how some of you are incredibly uninformed about everything that happened after and up to this day.

I wish people spoke with even half the heart they do when it comes to Quebec, when it comes to Indigenous people

But don’t ask about how the French treated the indigenous people living in Quebec or what happened to those languages
