It ended up being close in the end, but @GoChoctaws_WBB falls to Louisiana 75-63. The Choctaws outscores the Ragin’ Cajuns 54-36 in the second half. MC is next in action on Monday as they travel to Hattiesburg to play Southern Miss.
FINAL:
UL 75 MC 63
The Choctaws made it closer than I thought after the first quarter.
Jakeria Hawkins led the way with 22 points. Kameron Sanders ended the night with 7 assists.
MC shot 22-71 from the floor and 13-36 from deep. The Choctaws turned the ball over 25 times and lost the rebound battle 56-38.
3rd Quarter Media Timeout:
UL 52 MC 27
Jakeria Hawkins leads the Choctaws with 10 points.
Looks like MC maybe getting in a rhythm with 15 minutes left.
Halftime:
UL 39 MC 9
The leading scorers for the Choctaws are Alexander, Quick, and Carr all with 3.
MC has turned the ball over 19 times and is being out rebounded 32-16. The Ragin’ Cajuns have 28 points in the paint and the Choctaws have 0.
After the Choctaws did a good job keeping things close with Alabama on Tuesday, the hope was they’d have more success against Louisiana.
Choctaw starters:
1 Kameron Sanders
2 Morgan Williams
4 Rebecca Wood
13 Jakeria Hawkins
30 Nyla Hooten
1st Quarter Media Timeout:
UL 7 MC 0
The Choctaws are 0-5 from the floor and 0-3 from deep. MC has turned the ball over 7 times. MC is keeping pace on the boards as each team has 6 rebounds.
With the MAIS playoffs starting this week 3 top 25 teams will find out who their second round opponents are. #1 seeds River Oaks (1A D1) and Tunica (1A D2) are both inside the top 10 while #2 seed Central Holmes sits at #16 in the Southern Top 25.
The Choctaws are back in action on the hardwood tonight as both the men’s and women’s team continue their exhibition schedules. @GoChoctaws_WBB will visit the Ragin’ Cajuns of Louisiana with tip-off scheduled for 6:00. @GoChoctaws_MBB is on the road against South Alabama with tip-off also scheduled for 6:00. Neither game features a video broadcast. Both games will have live stats and South Alabama will have a radio feed of the men’s game.
