I was proud to join the NYS Teachers’ Retirement System’s Annual Delegates Meeting in Saratoga Springs and celebrate the work to protect the secure pensions our members have earned.
A strong retirement system is a promise to the educators who dedicate their lives to our students and communities. We’ll keep fighting to protect it. 💙 @nysut

Today, Gov. Hochul announced that New York State will opt into the Trump administration's voucher program. Giving up local control of public education to the federal government through this scheme is a failure of leadership. Gov. Hochul will bear the responsibility, but our students, educators, and families will bear the price. The UFT is disappointed in this decision and we will continue to stand with parents, educators and public school supporters to do what we can to roll back this policy and protect our classrooms. Full statement: uft.org/news/press-releases/…

Below is a quote from Michael Mulgrew, UFT President, criticizing the transfer of local education control to the federal government through the Trump administration's private school voucher scheme. The quote highlights concerns about leadership and the impact on students, educators, and families.

In observation of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, current and former NYSUT officers held a ceremony to honor those who were impacted by this national tragedy. We will never forget the victims, nor the first responders who put their lives on the line.

A big win for union members! ✊
Great to celebrate Labor Day with labor leaders at @GovKathyHochul’s Labor Appreciation Reception, and even better to celebrate the signing of the Union Impersonation Bill into law.
This new law protects public employees from groups that try to impersonate their union and mislead members — proud of this work!

BREAKING: Humanity survives another day. 🤖❌
Salamanca has hit pause on its robot “teacher assistant” experiment.
Parents, educators and community members still think kids deserve actual humans in their classrooms.
We’ll call that a win.

A robot built by a company that makes sex dolls has no business in our classrooms.
Our kids don't need more screens, more AI, or machines pretending to be human.
They need teachers. They need mentors. They need caring adults.
@nysut will fight against the thoughtless expansion of this technology and explore every necessary avenue to protect human-centered learning in every classroom across New York.
