FINALLY the iconic acme whistle sound from Thomas and Tugs (and You On Kazoo lol) has been found. I came across it while digging through Prophet 2000 disk files. You can download it here: drive.google.com/drive/folde…
Some thoughts below.
The TRUE origin of this sample is likely still the Akai S900, as I discovered 4 alternate variations in S900 dumps AND its what the You On Kazoo composer said was most likely. No dump of S900 sample disks have ever yielded the answer so it's not concrete, but it's very likely.
