I'm so sorry to hear that @rossjanderson is no longer with us. I grew up next door to him in Scotland and he has been a tower of strength for me as I found my feet here in Cambridge. One of those people whose quiet kindness will still be with me, long after he himself is gone.

Continuing quest to photograph tiny things. Dahlia leaf + 200mm prime +5x Mitutoyo obj. Plant in the ground and camera on a brick. Focus stacked by turning the focus ring of the lens. Funding by @_OpenPlant, optics by @CanonUKandIE and @MitutoyoAmerica. Stack By Helicon Focus.

I'm back trying to photograph tiny hairs. This is a set of hairs on a courgette leaf, photographed using a canon 200mm prime lens and a Mitutoyo 10x microscope objective. Lenses by @MitutoyoAmerica & @CanonUKandIE. Funded by @_OpenPlant

Another teeny tiny plant hair photo for today. This hair is also one tenth of a millimetre tall. It was photographed with a Canon 200mm prime lens and a 20x Mitutoyo microscope objective.

Another slightly larger gametophyte fern. I've been trying to get to to grips with the x50 magnification, but that is a whole other problem, it turns out. @_OpenPlant @jimhaseloff

For a bit of Christmas jollity, here are some photos of my camera setup. Today, while we wait for better ferns, we are photographing my son's Librarian in Phobos Armour from the Warhammer Space Marines Collection. Canon 5D Mkii on a focus stacking rail, driven by an arduino.

The whole setup is driven from my PC, which was paid for by a grant from @_OpenPlant. I received the grant for my fern photography work, which is still going on. Ferns are a bits harder than models, which is why we are ironing out technical problems on warhammer figures.
