This article is full of blatant misinformation.
"The components Luckey specified that are planned to be American-made from the start are the display glass, the frame around the display, and parts of the ribbon component."
No. That is not what I said. This was a response to a specific question about the display modules in the current prototype vs the final product. As I explicitly said, BlueChip has American chips, batteries, metallics, plastics, glass, etc, and we have a clear technical roadmap to 100% American components.
"It sounds like BlueChip’s first laptop will be well below the 65-percent requirement to count as American-made"
This is nuts. There is a reason no other reporter has came to this conclusion. One hint might be the extended discussion we had explicitly about the government requirements for American-made hardware and why meeting that bar is so important.
"Palmer Luckey is of course a controversial figure, with his history of fueling right wing troll farms"
This never happened. You are pushing a lie The Verge has pushed for over a decade now. Yes, you have written a bunch of stories claiming this happened, but it just ain't so. I gave $9,000 to a group that ran a single anti-Clinton billboard. The "right wing troll farms" narrative was a fabricated story pushed shortly before the 2016 election because Dems desperately wanted a right-wing equivalent to the actually-real Correct The Record, an online astroturfing organization that paid people to troll and "correct" Trump supporters online.
But there was no such thing. It was all disinformation. Which is why most of the stories about it were later deleted. Yet here you are, lying again.
Talarico hates Texas
Early voting starts today in Texas.
James Talarico, in his own words:
On police: “It's always rich to me that defund the police is considered off limits...”
On guns: Assault weapons ban? “Absolutely.”
On ICE: “Tear down this secret police force.”
On prison: “Prison is violence.”
“People don't belong in cages.”
Send this to a Texas voter.

Normally, politicians encourage young people to enter public service.
Sen. Elissa Slotkin D-MI) is not normal.
Here she threatens to ruin young people who might want to work for Trump.
This type of thinking is terrible for our country.

Intimidate conservatives into silence. Weaponize politics and threaten prosecution for those working on the “wrong” side.
That’s the chilling message coming from a U.S. Senator from my home state. This is Communist Crazy.
ON UCHICAGO CAMPUS: U.S. Senator from Michigan Elissa Slotkin hopes planned political prosecutions of republican leaders will scare young conservatives from getting involved in politics.

Bill, ABC News lied to you. This entire investigation was a sham.

@ABC is refusing to correct this lie. @ByNathanLee's "analysis" is totally bogus, and he knows it, because Anduril provided him with the actual numbers - 1789 Capital has only invested a total of $50M in Anduril, and this so-called "major stake" is about 1/1000th of the company.
The claim of $6B+ in "active or promised government contracts" is also a lie. Most of that amount is in hypothetical contract ceilings, which are (by design) larger than the government or the contractor expect to transact.
The problem for Nathan and ABC, which they also know, is that a bunch of people, including the Governor, assumed they were telling the truth and acted on it. Admitting they got this wrong would make a legal judgement against them trivially easy. And so they lie.

You are also lying, Dave. So far, there has been a single meeting of 20+ advisers to brainstorm, and none of the proposed topics have anything to do with the products I am selling.

Man, ABC News needs an intervention. The misinformation spewed on a daily basis is prodigious.
The city of St. Petersburg in Clearwater, Florida, is hiring it's first ever "chief vibes officer," paying $10,000 for ten days of field research along the city's nightlife and entertainment hot spots.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
St. Petersburg and Clearwater are two separate cities in Pinellas County, Florida. The positions are contract roles offered by Visit St. Pete-Clearwater, the regional tourism organization and a department of Pinellas County government.
