Every anti-Paxton Republican I talked to was sick of exactly this kind of crap. They want the party to grow up, stop acting like Biff from Back to the Future, and actually try competence and integrity for a change.

Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies. Hoping for a course correction, for the country and for my party.

If a MAGA voter is bewildered today, perhaps he should stop making a meme calling his opponents “fake and gay,” delete the post declaring that Indian Americans worship demons, turn off the podcast that’s shrieking at him that every person who votes Democratic is a heretic, and take a very long and thoughtful look in the mirror.
Donald Trump is to blame, but no one — absolutely no one — made you imitate him. nytimes.com/2026/11/05/opini…
Quote from a GOP strategist in @washingtonpost: “It turns out voters weren’t voting on the best ass.”

I have been holding my tongue about something that happened during the Ohio gubernatorial race. I refused to speak while the election was underway because I did not want my words mistaken for an attempt to influence anyone’s vote.
But now that the election is over, I have something to say.
For nearly twenty years, my ministry has taken me among the homeless, the abused, the exploited, and the forgotten. I have sat with victims of sexual violence and witnessed the lifelong wounds of childhood trauma.
What Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign did to Amy Acton was among the most morally repulsive things I have witnessed in American politics.
They took a woman whose stepfather was indicted for raping her when she was twelve years old and featured her mother, from whom she had been estranged for nearly fifty years, in a political advertisement attacking her credibility.
The advertisement challenged Acton’s account of her childhood without mentioning the sexual abuse allegations or the circumstances of that estrangement. When people expressed their horror, the campaign defended it.
Imagine examining another person’s childhood suffering and fractured family relationships, then deciding those wounds might help win an election.
Anyone who has worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse understands the painful realities of denial, betrayal, shame, and estrangement. A child growing into a successful adult does not erase what happened. Nor does a parent’s denial make that suffering disappear.
I find it equally disturbing that an elderly mother, whom Acton herself described as unwell, was brought into this spectacle. Whatever her own struggles or responsibility for the past, exploiting that fractured relationship was grotesque.
To everyone who defended this, consider the message you sent to survivors. To the young woman whose family refuses to believe her. To the man who has carried the shame of childhood abuse for forty years. To the frightened child who has yet to tell anyone.
What did you teach them about the value of their suffering?
I am a priest. I believe in repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. But none of those things requires me to pretend that deliberate cruelty is anything less than a grave moral failure.
Your political allegiance does not absolve you of moral responsibility. You do not get to set aside your conscience during an election and retrieve it afterward.
If your loyalty requires you to defend the exploitation of a childhood sexual abuse survivor, your loyalty has become an idol. And if your conscience cannot recognize the wrong here, examine what political tribalism has done to it.
This is not about Republicans or Democrats. We have a choice as a people: continue excusing cruelty from our preferred political camp, or summon the courage to condemn it wherever it appears.
Amy Acton deserved better. Every survivor who watched this unfold deserved better.
And God help us if we have reached the point where winning an election matters more than protecting the dignity of a wounded human being.
If you lived in New Jersey or New York in those years, you knew who he was, a horrible person addicted to money and fame. He bullied anyone who got in his way. We all knew it. What's happened is no surprise. The only thing new is that he's gotten even worse over time.
So help me, I will never understand how and why these people sold their souls to Donald Trump. They knew, right from the start, what kind of man he was, and they sold their souls anyway. History will not be kind to them.
A dominant performance
It could be a question in years past, but not in 2026. The @Brewers are the best team in @MLB. Their regular-season record says it. Their NL playoff record says it. And their #WorldSeries performance against a very good Rays team has blared it to the universe.

All the GOP craziness over Obama's @Cheesecake Factory comment is a head-scratcher. I eat at the Cheesecake Factory. I like the food. But TBH, the inside of the place is an exercise in overkill. @BarackObama was 100% right.
This is sick…

Any person who had a modicum of decency would apologize, immediately, and then impose some basic accountability for some remarkably negligent staff work. He was trying to set up a perjury trap with fake information. Pitiful.
.@SenEricSchmitt, you owe this man an apology. Will you be big enough to make it or small enough to stand by a blatantly false accusation?
🤡 Eric Schmitt beclowns himself during Jack Smith hearing 🤡
Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atlanta to go to a Hawks game and collude with Fani Willis, and briefly displayed his "evidence" on a poster board before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- Schmitt's facts were totally wrong. Smith was actually in Maryland at a Hawkeyes (not a Hawks) game and never met Willis. As Klobuchar told him, "You have your teams wrong."
Here's the whole deeply embarrassing sequence:
That squirrelly hit on Hurts could really cost the @Eagles. Hope Jackson gets fined out the wazoo for that.

If you have to speak fluent English to serve in the US government, how the hell is Markwayne Mullin DHS Secretary?
Lutnick is either lying through his teeth or he's astoundingly ill-informed. Either way, it doesn't reflect well on him at all. My guess is that the Trump administration is used to lying and getting away with it, since their political base will believe anything they say.

I get it. People love talking about presidential rankings. But all of the commentary about who was left out, who ranked higher than whom, is a distraction from the fact that the sitting president — during a war, in the lead up to the midterms, during a period of great anxiety — is casually posting about how he’s the greatest president ever. I get that defenders think it’s brilliant because it’s trolling. That’s pathetic in its own right. But a president trolling about how awesome he is when his approval rating is in the low 30s isn’t smart, clever, or wise. It’s sad and disturbing.
