So for all the ā€˜who are you to judge which journeys are essential’ commentators, perhaps this is a case study as to what is possible if non essential journeys are eliminated?
Amazing how quiet the main roads can be when drivers are rationing their petrol usage. @RoseCllr

In which case you’re talking about a very small subset of people. Or alternatively you’ve fallen into the trap of equating a decision to choose private schooling with having no choice but to drive! Both are nonsensical as there are choices in either scenario

Entertainingly I’ve been blocked for questioning the logic. I’m taking that as an acceptance of having no basis whatsoever
The planters on Melbourne Grove South are keeping *thousands* of people walking & cycling safe each day. Over 2,400 people have been recorded in a recent #ActiveTravel count (7am-7pm). #KeepThePlanters to lock-in the safety & active travel benefits @RoseCllr @kieronjwilliams

Oh look Blue Feather, Grove Reopen have just pre- announced your closure. Nothing like thinking a shop might have closed to make people not head there. Almost like when they suggested Callows locksmith was closing (it moved over the road!)

More analysis showing how there are so many more journeys that could change - we need to ensure that as a society we expect this

How much more will it take before people realise we need to make significant changes as a society. The question as to whether people ā€˜lead busy lives so need to drive their children around’, looks fairly ridiculous in the face of the ongoing impacts of climate change!
Death toll in devastating German floods rises to at least 80, with hundreds unaccounted for in the worst-hit region and more rain forecast bbc.in/3xJpm9X

Interesting stance- it’s not ok to post a non identifying picture of a car and a window (no ref/ door no/ major identifiers) but it is fine to post people’s houses / whole street if you support the messaging?

Cleaner air and safer streets. This is what Low Traffic Neighbourhoods are all about.
If you've never cycled in a Low Traffic Neighbourhood before, here's two minutes of pedalling around Islington and Hackney yesterday evening:

In all seriousness, could we be reaching a ā€˜tipping point’ where people are more aware of air pollution than they ever were and so should we be pushing for much more ā€˜extreme’ measures. Peak hour exclusion zones around schools/ ban on heavy freight / vans in daytimes etc?
Pleased to see a raised awareness of air pollution recently in Dulwich. Fewer car journeys are what’s needed to reduce the transport element of this harmful public health issue. This is why we campaign for safe routes, so people can be enabled to make sustainable travel choices.

Recent weeks have seen targeted harassment of women at their home address, criminal trespass, illegal flyposting and now yet more vandalism of the planters and plants. Nobody in our community should be targeted in this way for supporting changes to local streets. 1/2

This film is excellent. Cars are useful for some situations but have become the default for many. We as a society have forgotten how to travel without relying on the car - comments like ā€˜only the super fit can cycle 5 miles’ couldn’t be further from the truth!

Such a shame that local groups protesting against road filters are also willing to flypost horribly difficult to remove stickers all over the village- including on the iconic finger post signs! 😩

Joining up the existing #SafeRoutes into a wider network is key to getting more people to choose healthy and sustainable ways to travel šŸš¶šŸ›“šŸŒ³šŸš²šŸŒ.
Delighted to see these two projects have been selected for #GooseGreen from neighbourhood CIL funds! Main road cycle infrastructure is essential to join up the LTNs and build a network of #SafeRoutes. @mcash @vicky_olisa @SuecharlieSmith @RoseCllr @Radha_Burgess
