We’re building an ADU in Carlsbad. Asked @SDGE for a meter spot on Jan 9 this year. It’s Sept 4. Still no answer.
Meter spot should take 10 to 15 business days. We’re at 238 days.
SDG&E charges the highest electric rates in the continental US, raised them 11% this year, and can’t tell a builder where a meter goes. This is San Diego’s energy company.

We got a comment on a fire rebuild that just says PC-1. We emailed the plan checker and got a response 3 weeks later telling us to "check the portal".
After a trip in person and talking to multiple people - the issue was a software bug and their solution was to "email IT".
Lotta talk about AI streamlining permits. How about getting the basics right first?

The Very First Palisades Fire Home Rebuilt in Only 6-8 months!!
The fires in LA one year ago were absolutely devastating.
This time one year ago, we were evacuated. Scared. Not sure what was happening next. We will remember it forever.
But today, Los Angeles is healing. Rebuilding. Flourishing.
Yesterday marks the day the first home has been officially rebuilt in Pacific Palisades -- and yes, it happened in only 6-8 months! Wow!
Make no mistake -- this is not because of our politicians -- this is because of the incredible hard-work and innovations of our startups and private industry.
This phenomenal accomplishment was made possible by an amazing startup, Cover @coverbuild run by their fantastic CEO @alexisxrivas - they build end-to-end absolutely beautiful homes and backyard studios.
Expect to see many more homes stood up by Cover like this across Los Angeles! What an incredible story. What a beautiful home.
