If a woman says she carries something for protection because she has been followed before, telling her that “most men are good” isn't going to make her feel safer, it's just going to make her regret telling you in the first place.
A woman can reject a man politely, explain that she isn't interested and even wish him well, and somehow he can still spend the next hour calling her arrogant, ugly and entitled because apparently “no” only counts when a man says it.
If your first reaction when a woman talks about harassment is “but most men aren't like that,” you're probably missing the entire point because she isn't accusing you personally, she's telling you about something that happened to her.
Men will laugh at women for locking their doors, checking their surroundings and being careful around strangers, then suddenly understand the importance of personal safety when the person being threatened is their girlfriend, sister, daughter or mother.
Victim-blaming is honestly strange because people can spend hours discussing what a woman wore, where she went, how much she drank and why she trusted someone, but somehow the basic question of why the man chose to hurt her becomes an afterthought.
Sex robots are about to hit the market… finally, maybe some men can stop treating women like they’re owed access to them.
Some men hear “women are afraid of male violence” and immediately take it personally, as if acknowledging that women have legitimate reasons to be cautious is somehow a personal accusation against every individual man on the planet.
A woman can say she was uncomfortable because a man followed her down the street, and there will still be someone in the comments explaining that he probably “just wanted to talk,” as if women are supposed to wait around until the situation becomes dangerous before they're allowed to be scared.

Isn’t this sexist??? Why is the girl automatically dressed as the nurse while the boy gets to be the doctor?
Seven men who raped a woman begged her for forgiveness before their execution, but she refused to forgive them.
The way some men become overnight experts on sexual assault the second a woman talks about rape is wild, because suddenly everyone wants to discuss her clothes, her drinking, her location and her decisions instead of focusing on the person who actually committed the assault.
34-year-old man kisses his 12-year-old bride on the courthouse steps in 1937. The fact that this was considered a marriage is horrifying.
some women say they hate men who lie but will punish a man for telling the truth when the truth makes them look bad. honesty sounds amazing until it stops being flattering.
some men want a woman who “doesn't need attention” and then complain when she stops giving them attention. you wanted independence until you realized independence means she can actually leave.
Men will say “not all men” within seconds of a woman talking about male violence, but somehow that same energy disappears when it’s time to actually call out the men who harass, assault or threaten women.

My roommate ate the food I had been saving all day, then offered to buy me something else. I said I wanted the food I bought, and she called me difficult. It's amazing how quickly people become generous with things that aren't theirs.
A woman can say “I don’t trust strange men” because of something that actually happened to her, and somehow the first thing some men want to do is explain why she shouldn’t feel that way instead of wondering what made her feel unsafe in the first place.
my brother said women are too picky and then rejected a girl because she didn't like the same movies as him, apparently standards only become unreasonable when someone else has them
