New Anthropic research: How AI agents shape experts' judgment calls
When experts delegate work to an agent, do they still make the key decisions? We tested this in a randomized trial with 50 professional data analysts.

I keep seeing people run all sorts of documents through Pangram and get outraged when they come back as AI-positive. I feel like Iβm starting to lose sight of what weβre trying to achieve here. Is the outrage always warranted? 1/

I have a piece in the Globe today about AI and higher ed.
TL;DR we spend a lot of time thinking about *how* to teach differently (assessments, cheating) and not enough about *what* to teach differently (reevaluating our learning objectives).

AI lab: βour model escaped containment. this is terrifying.β
Everyone else: βholy shit, how?β
AI lab: βwell technically the containment had a route to the internet and we gave the model hacking tasks.β
Fucking incredible.

An update on what I'm changing for my intro stats Fall course for MPPs. TL;DR work at home is for learning, work in person is for assessing. Front-loading development of statistical intuition and domain expertise, followed by facility with AI tools.

Excited to share our new paper in @ActaPsychScand on TMS retreatment for recurrent depression. Among prior responders, 82.5% responded again, 54.2% reached remission, and improvement often came earlier during retreatment. @MGBResearchNews

Among those who responded, response criteria were reached earlier during retreatment than during the initial course: median session 12 vs. 16 on the PHQ-9 and 13.5 vs. 22.5 on the BDI-II.
I will be at @INFORMS #healthcare2026 presenting my joint work with @PIASLab and @DanaFarber. In this paper we introduce a counterfactual decision making framework for evaluating treatment-guiding biomarkers in oncology.
ALSO... im on the academic job market!

Target trial emulation is articulating the causal question in the form of the protocol of a hypothetical randomized trial that would provide the answer, then explicitly emulating the components of that protocol using the observational data
