Three years of war in Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen have boosted tunnel warfare everywhere, including in peer-to-peer warfare. It goes beyond terrorism, beyond the Middle East, and beyond urban.

ISRAEL'S COMBAT CASUALTY SURVIVAL RATE DEFIES THE SEVERITY OF ITS WOUNDS
The 2024 case fatality rate was 7.1% even though 23% of treated casualties fell into the most severe categories, a marked improvement on the 2006 war.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox speaks with @JacobStoil about how Israel raised survival rates despite heavier injuries from IEDs, anti-tank fire, mortars, and drones across Gaza and Lebanon, and what other militaries and emergency medical systems may learn from the result.
COMMAND AND CONTROL: HOW DID ISRAEL TRANSFORM BATTLEFIELD MEDICINE AND SAVE MORE SOLDIERS' LIVES?
As Trump's Russian diesel deal raises questions over Ukraine's energy ceasefire, renewed fighting threatens to draw Ethiopia and Eritrea into a wider war, and Sudan faces a deepening humanitarian catastrophe, the world's conflicts reveal the increasingly complex relationship between military strategy, political decisions and civilian survival.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox examines the latest developments across all three conflicts before speaking with U.S. Army military historian @JacobStoil about Israel's remarkable advances in battlefield medicine, the innovations that dramatically improved wounded soldiers' survival rates, and the lessons NATO can learn from the IDF's experience in Gaza, from rapid medical evacuations and frontline trauma care to the psychological toll of urban warfare.

COMMAND AND CONTROL: HOW DID HAMAS BREAK THROUGH ISRAEL’S DEFENCES ON OCTOBER 7?
Three years after Hamas launched its devastating October 7 terrorist attack, Israel remembers the civilians murdered, the families torn apart and the extraordinary bravery of those who fought to defend their communities against an unprecedented assault.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox reconstructs the Hamas-led invasion, exposing the intelligence failures that left Israeli communities vulnerable and recounting the massacres, hostage-taking and acts of heroism that defined the day, before speaking with Israeli National Police Chief Superintendent @Shlomichetrit about the officers who risked their lives to stop Hamas, the fierce battle for Sderot and how Israeli police held the line against overwhelming odds while awaiting military reinforcements.

Awesome to see this report getting some attention from @FNCGlobalNews - I had the honor of leading a great team in researching & writing it!
There are some really important lessons for the future of US Army casualty care in it!
IDF battlefield medicine has cut combat casualty mortality rates in half — from 15% during the 2006 Lebanon war to 7.1% during the Swords of Iron campaign — and the U.S. Army is now studying Israel's methods to overhaul its own wartime medical capabilities.
The advances include placing doctors in every company, carrying blood plasma on first responders' backs in coolers, and deploying a real-time data network so every medical officer in the chain can see patient information instantly. Advanced life support that once took 15-20 minutes to reach a casualty now arrives within 4 minutes.
A 78-page U.S. Army report published in April recommended American forces absorb Israel's lessons immediately, warning that 'the time for preparation is now' and that 'simply possessing clinical and tactical skills is insufficient.'

Many concessions that #Iran claims it could get from the #MOU have regional implications but (as @RichemondBarak & I wrote) #Iran's requirement that ships notify it & pay fees for transiting the #StraitofHormuz could have immediate global ramifications

I'll write a piece on what the #US-#Iran agreement means for the strategic environment in the #MiddleEast in the meantime here is one I wrote earlier predicting what will happen if the #US doesn't get sufficient results from the final agreement.
