Excited to announce that I have been awarded the @NIHDirector's Early Independence Award! This award provides ~$1.8M over 5 years to develop adaptive #BrainComputerInterfaces and #Bionic #Exoskeletons that can assist and rehabilitate stroke patients. nih.gov/news-events/news-rel… 1/3
Huge congrats to @connordo15 for winning the #NSFGRFP and to @MonikaKBuczak for being awarded honorable mention! I'm grateful to work with such stellar graduate students. 👏👏👏 @UofUECE @UtahBME @UtahCoE @UofU_PMR

Exciting news! We are hiring a Canada Research Chair (NSERC, Tier 2), tenure-track faculty position in Rehabilitation Engineering at the @UNB_IBME, at @UNBEngineering. We invite early career scholars (<10 years experience), who may one day be leaders in the field.

Quite the vitae indeed! It's not everyday you see a high school student submit a first-author paper to a flagship conference. Congrats Aaron! Well deserved! Very bright future ahead! ✨
High school senior Aaron Wang, who is a paid research assistant with the @UUtah NeuroRobotics Lab, added another title to his impressive vitae: General Sterling Scholar winner of the 2023 Deseret News/KSL Sterling Scholar Program. | By @DN_Marjorie

Super cool to play around with this device in @Jacob_A_George’s neural engineering class! Our group used it to implement an EMG-based, closed-loop stimulator for foot drop ⚡️🤓
Want to electrically activate motor or sensory nerves noninvasively? It can require 300 Volts to drive localized current through the skin!⚡️Not many stimulators can hit 300 V, so we developed a new multichannel stimulator that's <$250 and open-source! 1/4 rdcu.be/c6DKY

You can also evoke artificial sensory percepts by stimulating the skin (electrocutaneous) or afferent nerves (transcutaneous). Stimulating the skin, or reinnervated skin in the case of limb-loss, is easier to target and can encode intensity w/ 2x resolution! 3/4
Shout out to coauthors who made this work possible. Extra kudos to Marshall Trout, 1st author, who made 20 stimulators so students in my neuroengineering class at @UtahBME & @UofUECE could explore custom stim waveforms and parameters! Read more below👇4/4 doi.org/10.1038/s41598-023-3…
