Sometimes I remember Ken Paxton didn’t take seventh-grade Texas history because he’s not from here.
Like when he announced he’d conclude his “Come and Take It” tour at the Alamo, a place where the Mexican army did, in fact, come and take it.

Millennial management is basically, “I trust you. I support you. I believe in you. PLEASE don’t make me have to start documenting shit.” 😂

As someone who is a person of faith, and wants to see better faith based films, this is a horrible way to go about producing them. It also helps explain why so many modern faith based movies are so middling, seemingly designed to preach to only a particular crowd rather than engage in any meaningful spiritual introspection.
Imagine imposing these kinds of parameters on a film like 'Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother' (a different faith, but still), blocking the finale of 'Conclave', or wanting to make changes to something like 'Silence'.
Placing these kinds of restrictions on filmmakers only limits artists and demonstrates a lack of interest in genuinely exploring the very faith you claim to care so much about. If *Martin Scorsese* can explore and interrogate his own faith in his films, why limit yourself like this?
We just made a promise no Hollywood studio has ever made. No sex or nudity on screen, no F-word, and no misuse of God's name in Angel originals. And 3 million Guild members get a veto on everything before it ever lands on Angel.
Parents shouldn't have to sift through a dozen movies to find one they can watch. That's why we made the Angel Promise. foxnews.com/media/angel-stud…

“When Apple TV, which most Americans don’t have and don’t want, offers people the ability to ‘stream’ a treasured classic, no one watches, because it is not a shared, 30-minute experience. It is no longer special.”

NEW: Members of UT-Austin's student government wanted to condemn Bo French's racist attacks, but say a school official stepped in to dissuade them. They say its part of broader, concerning pattern regarding the school's handling of political issues. (Gift link below)

To get in touch with the Real America, I'm here at a diner in rural Ohio on journalistic assignment with The New Yorker. Next to me is an alienated, hard-working woman on assignment from the Atlantic and a crusty father of 4 on assignment from Harper's.
Shoutout to whoever had the idea to remix The Who’s “Love, Reign O’er Me” for the trailer for the new Hunger Games movie. Gets me every time
New from me in @BookPlusFilm: Matt Singer's "Funny Business" was a lot sadder than I thought it was going to be. We used to have R-rated comedies in theaters all the time! bookandfilmglobe.com/books/f…

Here is a small sampling of the most overt racism from Bo French, who was just hosted by Lakepointe Church. Related: Supporting racism is among the things that can get churches booted from the Southern Baptist Convention, of which Lakepointe is a member.

In the long history of dumb Dallas ideas, this one might be both dumbest and Dallasest. No one woke up today or ever thinking "Hey, what Lower Greenville really needs is a good tub club!" kxt.org/2026/10/the-granada-…

Christianity Today has seen about half its staff quit or laid off in the last 14 mos. Former employees told me that new business leaders have intervened in editorial decisions & are effectively abandoning the outlet's commitment to independent journalism. nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/ch…

My biggest hot take on Christians and art is low church + evangelical christians retain too much of a black and white mindset. Narnia and LOTR could never be written by someone in that context, and nothing on their level ever will be

Horror is, perhaps unexpectedly, one of the most Christian genres of films. Now, a caveat is that most of what gets made today is aesthetically gross and filthy, but the central ideas of horror are often deeply Christian themes: the reality of evil, the inescapability of judgement, supernatural malevolence, the desire for evil to destroy that which is pure , and ultimately the triumph of righteousness and light over evil.
