π»πͺ VENEZUELA π»πͺ
A digital platform is being floated so roughly 4 million Venezuelans abroad (probably significantly more) can vote in the July 2027 window
While outside the country
That *could* be a really big deal...
Since this one's getting around...
I go to these places and film them in person: the apartments, the neighborhoods, the residency paperwork, all of it

Bolivia π§π΄ isn't only gas lines and strikes this week
β ~4,700 schools getting Starlink
β Cybertruck ambulances already in use
Both stories can sit side by side
This stuff isn't complex...
There's no universal "El Dorado" anywhere in the world, only your personal utopia
Decide what you're optimizing for, then pick the location that allows you to optimize those area(s) of your life
For example:
β Cheapest = Bolivia π§π΄ + Ecuador πͺπ¨ + Paraguay π΅πΎ
β Best Plan B Residency = Uruguay πΊπΎ + Panama π΅π¦ + Paraguay π΅πΎ
β Best for Retirees = Panama π΅π¦ + Mexico π²π½ + Costa Rica π¨π·
β Best for Families = Panama π΅π¦ + Uruguay πΊπΎ + Chile π¨π±
β Best for Single Broski = Brazil π§π· + Colombia π¨π΄ + DR π©π΄
β Best for Vibes = Argentina π¦π· + Brazil π§π· + Costa Rica π¨π·

Details matter...
Great breakdown of the residency files processed in Panama π΅π¦
Replying to @JakeNomada
Worth unpacking: SNM says the jump is mostly PPSH humanitarian files and extensions, so these are decisions, not new arrivals. The lines investors should watch, Jan-Sep: 2,923 approvals for Americans, 2,363 Friendly Nations, 2,082 retirees/pensionados.
π΅π¦ PANAMA π΅π¦
13 days after a 7.5 earthquake, Panama's president had 27 global companies and institutions from 17 countries in the presidential palace for a World Economic Forum strategy meeting
Maersk, AES, EQT and Stena Line sent their CEOs, Visa, Mastercard, DHL and PepsiCo were there too
His pitch:
Moving cargo isn't enough anymore, Panama should be the region's biggest multi-energy, logistics, digital and financial hub
Built on 4 pillars...
β Water: expand storage in the Canal watershed
β Energy: Canal as a multi-energy hub, lead shipping decarbonization
β Trade: new Mercosur associate state, multinational nearshoring base
β Rule of law: off the EU money-laundering list and its tax blacklist
The WEF's Alois Zwinggi called it a shared commitment to boost Panama's strategic position
Nobody in that room flew to Panama for the beaches, although there's some damn good beaches here too ;)

A powerful network of Latin American residency sellers with 8,000-48,000 followers on twitter manipulated the Brazilian elections to rescue their floundering businesses from declining consumer interest due to regional cost of living increases and fading novelty.
Wake. Up.

There are not that many safe havens / tax havens left in the world.
Panama is not perfect and has its own risk profile but having a Plan B there is a no brainer.
π΅π¦ PANAMA π΅π¦
Panama's migration service (SNM) cleared 18,494 residency files in Q3β¦
Up 132.9% vs Q2
Kind of insane π
I think people undervalue just how impressive the infrastructure built or being built in small Central American countries like El Salvador πΈπ» and Panama π΅π¦ truly is...
But when you compare it to other similar sized countries in the region, you walk away incredible impressed with the ability of these places to build things that work for citizens, residents, and tourists alike π«‘
π²π½ MAZATLΓN, MEXICO π²π½
Nearly everyone will disagree with me on this one...
MazatlΓ‘n should be the best beach city in Mexico
The beach in the Zona Dorada is one of my favorite beaches in the world, golden sand, light waves, perfect for body surfing, pleasant to swim in, and a little boat takes you to the island right off the sand
The rest of the case:
β Amazing seafood, some of the best beach-town food I've eaten anywhere
β Weather that's ideal 7 to 8 months a year, spring-like mornings for the malecΓ³n, hot afternoons for the beach, a few months too cold to swim, a few months super hot
β 21 km of malecΓ³n, the longest in the world outside Rio
β High-rise hotels and apartments with insane ocean views
β Pretty good nightlife
β Cheap to live in
β Short flight from the US and Canada
I wouldn't raise a family there, but kids aside it's my favorite beach city in Latin America NOT in Brazil
So why hasn't it fallen to mass gringo tourism like Playa del Carmen or Cabo?
The Sinaloa Cartel runs it, a true gangsters' paradise
The city moves in phases, when the cartel isn't at war it's calm, when it is, it gets dangerous and it's not a place you want to be
A world-class beach city you can only enjoy between cartel wars
That's the tragedy of MazatlΓ‘n

You make your own "luck". I started buying up much of Recoleta and Palermo in 2002 after the big Corralito crash. People told me I was stupid and crazy then.
Of course later they said "you're so lucky". π
You make your own luck in life.

π²π½π― Puebla, MΓ©xico - Totally underrated.
Spot on target. Puebla is severely underrated. Great city. Amazing restaurants and not expensive.
A bit aggressive, but...
He *might* not be wrong here
For someone whose main focus is low cost of living in a city that doesn't suck + prefers 1-3 million people cities over mega cities
Santa Cruz de la Sierra π§π΄ is going to be tough to beat
The only other contenders:
- Asuncion π΅πΎ
- Quito πͺπ¨
- Cali π¨π΄
- Puebla π²π½
- Brazil π§π· (handful to choose from...)

There is NOWHERE that you should decide to base up

πSanta Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia π§π΄
Can live like a king for $1500/m. Amazing nature close to the city.
Abundant access to modern apartments
Andβ¦
Arguably, the best restaurant/cafe scene among tier b/c cities
No brainer.
π¨π΄ BOGOTΓ, COLOMBIA π¨π΄
My buddy Brandon bought "the blood in the street" in BogotΓ‘ back in the day, and it's part of the reason his penthouse nets 36% a year
β Right after COVID, peso near 5,000 to the dollar
β Colombia had just elected the left-wing Gustavo Petro, owners in his building were freaking out, "we're going to lose all our money"
β He lowballed them and ended up with most of the apartments in the building
β Paid $100,000 for this 4 bed in ChicΓ³ Norte, "a no brainer"
β Peso came back under 4,000, so he's up 20 to 25% on the exchange rate alone
Skill or luck? "Mostly luck" he claims...

π»πͺ VENEZUELA π»πͺ
Richard Branson just spent 2 days in Venezuela, his first trip there ever...
β "A lot obviously depends on the next 18 months"
β Once elections happen and rule of law is in place, Venezuela has a "tremendous opportunity"
β Until then a lot of the big money waits, his words: "Investment needs certainty" and "It needs transparency"
β Foreign Minister FΓ©lix Plasencia pitched him a Virgin Atlantic route from Caracas π»πͺ to London π¬π§ and he said he'd look at it but won't promise the numbers work
β In La Guaira (the port by the main airport) people asked him about Virgin Voyages ships docking there, something he said they'd seriously look at, but years out
β He pitched acting president Delcy RodrΓguez on copying Virgin StartUp Loans, a UK program that has lent to nearly 10,000 small businesses
So now we have Trump and Branson talking about Venezuela, about the potential...
Interesting times ahead π»πͺ
π¨π΄ MEDELLΓN, COLOMBIA π¨π΄
Foreigners look at a MedellΓn building, see it for 20% of what it costs in the US, and settle for a passive 10% return or LESS
Danny, who owns 2 Airbnbs here: "Dude, just put your money in the S&P 500"
Same return at home means you shouldn't be carrying the currency risk...
Was quite an interesting take
