On Sycamore Hill grows this absolute giant of a tree, perfectly formed, the sort of tree a child would draw if asked to draw a tree. Of course it helps that he stands on his own podium and is approached via a rustic gate in a meadow of wildflowers. He deserves nothing less.

We're devastated to learn of the loss of the historic tree at Sycamore Gap, reported to have been deliberately felled. Standing proudly amidst a section of Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland, the tree was one of the most popular in the UK and a winner of Tree of the Year in 2016.

'The tree. Our tree'. Those who cut down the Sycamore Gap tree, Have committed an act of great cruelty. They have shown no regard for nature's grace, And left a scar upon this sacred place. Let those who cut down the sycamore tree, Beware the wrath of nature, wild and free. For their evil deed will not be forgotten. 📍 Sycamore Gap

Can you help us. We are looking for a lovely tree surgeon to reduce 3 trees close to animal enclosures for free. The work is important but the funds spent on reducing the trees could be spent on essential animal care. If you think you can help please call Darren on 01243 641672.

Here’s the tree at the junction of South Ealing Road and Little Ealing Lane getting blown over this afternoon. Amazing car cam footage by Joanna Wolman. (Some understandable swearing!) – at Ealing, London

Pedunculate Oak - Quercus robur standing proudly in a field. It’s not often that I actually take the time to consider, this tree grew from a tiny acorn. #newforest #oak #oaktree #acorn

What happens when a bird drops a cherry pit onto a mulberry tree? One possibility is a cherry tree grows on top of the mulberry tree....and this is exactly what happened in Piemonte, Italy! Amazing.

Word of my afternoon is ‘shivelights’: the shafts of sunshine that pierce the foliage of the trees. (Coined by Gerard Manley Hopkins.)

It’s a crisp, cold start to the morning, but the frost on this Cotoneaster looks beautiful and makes the start of the day more bearable.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. ❤️
