Former MI6 chief Alex Younger now admits the West provoked Russia… and lost By fixating on military confrontation through NATO, the West neglected economic and technological domains. Russia took full advantage and became the leading military technological power.

Tanzania has announced a significant natural gas find, with estimates putting the deposit at 223 billion cubic feet in the Mnazi Bay area of the southern Mtwara region. 🇹🇿 It’s the country’s first reported new gas discovery since 2015. The find came at the Kasa-1X ST2 well through a joint effort between the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation the state-owned energy company and French firm Maurel & Prom. The government expects the new deposit to help shore up the country’s energy supply, support power generation, and provide more gas for industry and other needs. Officials say the well could produce roughly 30 million cubic feet of gas a day for at least a decade.

Bloodlines of the Beat How Three Sons Carry the Heavy Crown of Congolese Rumba To understand how Congolese rumba survives, you do not look at music schools or written scores. You look at families. Passed down orally from breath to breath, rumba is a living heritage, a soul language handed down through bloodlines. Yet, few face a heavier burden than the sons of the giants. Carrying a legendary surname in Kinshasa is both a blessing and a lifelong shadow. Here are the stories of three "heirs" who chose to step into that spotlight, each finding his own path to keep his father's legacy alive. 1. Lola Muana: The Child Who Became a Song Some children hear their names shouted across the courtyard when it’s time for dinner. Lola Dindo Mabeli heard his name sung across the speaker systems of all Kinshasa. In 1974, as a co-founder of the Orchestra Macchi alongside Théo Lolango, Dindo Yogo recorded "Lola Muana," a tender, haunting rumba dedicated to his young son that firmly established his voice in Congolese music. The little boy grew up listening to his own name echo through the capital’s vibrant maquis and bars, while his father went on to become the legendary "broken voice" (la voix cassée) of iconic bands like Viva la Musica, Langa Langa Stars, and Zaïko Langa Langa. Naturally, the music called to the son. In 1996, Lola joined his father’s orchestra. Three years later, he tested his wings with Koffi Olomidé’s Quartier Latin, all while continuing to perform heartfelt duets alongside his father. When Dindo Yogo passed away in Kinshasa on August 23, 2000, he left his eldest son with a vocal timbre so uncannily similar to his own that it unsettled longtime music lovers. Honoring that legacy, Lola later joined Zaïko Langa Langa, the very orchestra where his father had penned timeless classics like "Mokili Echanger". The circle had finally closed: the famous broken voice lives on, reborn in a new throat. 2. Baby Ndombe: The Fourth of Nine, born in 1944 in Bandundu, Pépé Ndombe Opetum served at the feet of rumba’s two greatest thrones. After making a name for himself as a star vocalist in Tabu Ley Rochereau’s Afrisa International, he was recruited into Franco Luambo’s legendary TPOK Jazz in the mid-1970s following Sam Mangwana’s departure. His soulful touch elevated hits like "Mabe Yo Mabe", "Coupe du Monde", and "Youyou". Following Franco’s passing, Pépé co-founded Bana OK in 1994 alongside fellow elders Simaro Lutumba and Josky Kiambukuta. Of Pépé’s nine children, it was his fourth child, Baby Ndombe, who caught the music bug earliest. Rather than leaning solely on his father's style, Baby learned the modern ropes under Werrason in Wenge Musica Maison Mère, earning a reputation for his dynamic stage presence before embarking on a solo career as Baby Black. His talent took him around the globe, performing across Africa, Europe, and North America, and recording his ambitious album Tour de Babel in the United States. Eventually returning to Kinshasa, Baby’s soulful contributions to the global Playing For Change movement brought his voice to millions worldwide. When Pépé Ndombe died of a heart attack in May 2012, international media noted that the torch had been seamlessly passed. Today, the family legacy remains vibrant, with another brother, African Boy Tswe, composing and producing for the next generation. 3. Junior Mpiana: The Heir Who Changed the Language While Baby Ndombe honed his craft under Werrason, the son of Werrason’s legendary rival took an entirely unexpected route. Junior Mpiana (known to fans as Jay) is the son of JB Mpiana, the silky-voiced leader of Wenge BCBG and the self-proclaimed "Papa Chéri". Where music fans expected another velvety rumba crooner, Junior delivered hard-hitting rap. His debut music video, "Beaux Rois", set a striking new tone, quickly followed by his EP "Bao Banga". Yet, rather than rejecting his roots, Jay bridges two eras. He proudly claims two musical godfathers: his father, JB Mpiana, and his father’s former rival, Werrason. In a historic moment of symbolic healing, Junior opened for Werrason at the Forest National in Brussels, helping erase decades of old Wenge rivalries in a single night. JB Mpiana shut down any lingering rumors of a family rift with a simple, proud declaration: "My son is Jey." Life, however, would bring deep heartbreak. On March 21, 2025, Junior’s sister, Océane, tragically lost her life in a road accident in France. Two months later, a grieving Junior released "Soli", a poignant track featuring archival recordings of Océane’s voice singing alongside him. That trial transformed the young artist. His journey through his Mind Games series matured his sound, leading to his ambitious project "MetalRumba," a genre-bending fusion where the rapper returns to his father’s rumba roots, armed with his own modern sound. As JB Mpiana prepares to return to the iconic Paris Bercy stage after a 25-year absence, the performance stands as much more than a reunion: it is a celebrated, official passing of the torch from father to son. Don’t slide into numbers’ fallacy; they were itinerant and severely circumscribed inland. Especially when they started meddling in succession issues and in partisan gun trading! In the border areas of Kanyemba they were slave traders, which added to the resentment. Their slave trading post is still there at Kanyemba, very close to the Zimbabwe border post!!

Muzukuru Mhofu, that is only half the story. In the 1500s the Portuguese recorded a figure of 10000 Moors in the Mwenemutapa Empire. Yes, they were at first allies with the Portuguese but they became the most hated people as they refused to give up control of trade routes. This sparked a war which had the scale of a genocide which targeted Moors. Where did they go? Inland into Zimbabwe to save their lives.

I know this is taking a ring of totemic grandeur🤣🤣🤣🤣. Only to say that the Arab/Yemen influence into Zimbabwe was contemporaneous with Portuguese nominal expansion towards Zimbabwe. It came via Portuguese coastal settlements even though the Oman influence through East Africa was expanding Southwards towards Zimbabwe!!!
Certainly not Caucasian, by Semitic. Emir.

Portuguese or British/Afrikaners??? I think Portuguese contact with Great Zimbabwe happened when the Great Zimbabwe was still the citadel of Rozvi Empire. It could not have been pillaged. Pillaging started with British encroachment after Great Zimbabwe had been abandoned. Three key whites loom large: Randalls, Mauch and the Posselt brothers. The Posselt brothers actually pillaged Zimbabwe Birds, handing them to Cecil John Rhodes!
The Portuguese stole stone writings that were above every entryway in Great Zim. Im probably starting a new subject but was also fascinated by the commentary that the alphabet on those stones resembled no other known alphabet @Jamwanda2 might have an idea what I'm talking about

Let this correct reasoning guide your understanding of Portuguese rendition of Rozvi names and personages!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Of course that is a non starter. Mberengwa is Mberengwa and Belingwe is adulteration.

Firstly, you are raising cultural changes after the fall of the Ndebele Kingdom when the children of late Lobengula were parcelled out to white families in South Africa. Secondly, you are overstretching the miscegenation argument which was quite pronounced in East Africa and coastal Mozambique, into Zimbabwe where the moors only carried out periodic raids and trade on behalf of the Portuguese power which remained thinly coastal!!! Ground your argument in real historical understanding not circumstantial reasoning asekuru!! I am happy you pulled down the tweet!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
You are correct Mhofu. One generation down the lineage, Lobengula's children were wearing suits. Should I post images? In KwaZulu here is King Cetshwayo

ACTUALLY 1,5M cars in 2025, up from 1,05M in 2020, is very modest growth which can be handled through less expensive, management interventions!!!!!
The number of cars in Zimbabwe is growing, but infrastructure isn’t keeping up. ZINARA CEO Nkosinathi Ncube told the road authority’s AGM: “In 2024, we were issuing an average 5,000 new licences per month. That figure has doubled. This speaks volumes on infrastructure. At this rate, we need ro expand public transport…”

IT’S A BIT LAZY TO THINK THAT INFRASTRUCTURE EXPANSION IS THE ONLY RESPONSE TO VEHICULAR INCREASE. THERE ARE A THOUSAND TOOLS BEFORE THE EXPENSIVE OPTION OF EXPANDING INFRASTRUCTURE!!!

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS SONG???
A man with everlasting impact on the continent, an existence so great it needs no introduction. Proud to have known of his indelible impact on Kenya & the world, his struggle whose brunt he bore on both body and mind, and the persona and brand he built from ash & stone- thank you R.A.O @RailaOdinga . Rest well. And to celebrate his life and times, I've remembered he once mentioned that he loved Luambo Makaidi and his music, so here goes another African giant's indelible mark on Afrika- Falaswa. "Falaswa is a fraud, since we got married 7 years ago, we couldn't bear children. Now that I've left him, my partner and I are expectant. Falaswa's family nicknamed me 'The Concortion Guzzler' because of all the birth pills I took, yet tis their son that was unable to sire a child. Further, when we booked a doctor's appointment, Falaswa flew out on the day of the appointment to Cameroon." Ladies and Gentlemen, Greatness Galore.
