It always confuses me how many people in the UK just accept an unelected house in Parliament. There simply is no justification.
Wait till you see the rest of my amendments tomorrow. I can't abolish the Lords in this particular Bill but I can abolish its membership...... We'll start with the donors and the appointed cronies and work downwards. Scottish Labour will of course support me!!!?

They get £342 per day just for turning up but don't pay one penny of tax. If they paid their share it would cover the winter fuel allowance for Scotland's pensioners. Tomorrow I will bring amendments to make them pay as well as abolishing the whole circus. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/polit…

The 'duty to explain' is a more a positive way of understanding that the university teacher should not indoctrinate the student but instead open up a range of interpretations for them to choose from. See my new paper with Ivy Xiao Han in open access: tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…

Women should lift each other up in the workplace. Could have said- 'it's a brilliant achievement tho we differ in our policy views'- The exact kind of woman you don't want to have as your boss if you're a woman too.
Kemi Badenoch: "I find it astonishing that Rachel Reeves keeps talking about how she's the first female Chancellor, which is a very, very low-glass ceiling... which she may have smashed." #bbclaurak

Priti Patel has been made Shadow Foreign Secretary, which is a great excuse to remember that time Ian Hislop hilariously destroyed her argument in favour of the death penalty.

Fascinating and challenging article by @JuusoNieminen on the paradoxes of inclusive assessment. #highereducation #AcademicTwitter
Why is it so tricky to design inclusive assessment that considers the diversity of students? Perhaps assessment and inclusion are simply incompatible. My @AheConference keynote exploring the paradox of inclusive assessment has been published! tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…

Excellent questions @Luci_Willis
Where is consent on schools for the use of edtech platforms, what are we being sold? What implicit or explicit messages are young people receiving from their use of these platforms? #IBGC2024

95 years ago today, women were officially recognized as persons in Canada.
On Persons Day, we remember the Famous Five who successfully challenged a law that defined ‘persons’ as men. In 1929, after six decades of Canada, some women in the country were at last recognized as persons. Almost a century later, the fight for equality continues.
