We have confirmed an EF-1 tornado in NE Raleigh. The tornado was on the ground for 5 min and produced a discontinuous path of damage that was consistent with that of an EF-1 tornado. Special thanks to Wake County Emergency Management for their assistance with the survey. #NCwx

[8 PM]: The far outer cloud bands of #Isaias moved into the area at sunset this evening. Impacts from the remnants of this storm as it moves inland are just under 36 hrs away. Residents of the TN Valley should be prepared for gusty winds/locally heavy rainfall on Saturday! #HUNwx

North Carolina, our team is closely tracking Hurricane Isaias and any impacts that may come our way. Rainfall, which could be heavy in some locations, is expected to start in the western part of the state overnight Friday. As rain moves across North Carolina Saturday and Saturday night, the greatest flash flooding threat is across portions of western NC and southeastern NC.  Make sure you have emergency alerts turned on, are paying attention to local forecasts, and visit ReadyNC.gov for emergency preparedness information.

We know many communities are still recovering from Helene, and we stand with you. While Isaias will be the first tropical system to impact our area since Helene, the current forecast is far less severe. Heavy rain and gusty winds remain possible. #scwx #ncwx #gawx
