Why is AI music suddenly the line we’re not allowed to cross? Autotune, sampling, drum machines, ghostwriters, pitch correction, loops and digital production have shaped music for decades. And was the old system really “fair”? Major labels had the money to hire producers, writers, engineers and marketing teams, then push artists with massive distribution — whether they were the most talented person in the room or not. Now AI gives regular people access to tools that used to require a studio, a team and a serious budget. Maybe the real controversy isn’t that AI can make music. Maybe it’s that the gatekeepers aren’t the only ones who can anymore.
