We typically see our first snowflakes of the season during November but we will likely have to wait until later this month as it's likely too warm during the first half of the month.

October goes down in the books as a warmer and drier than normal month. Cooler nights led to closer than normal low temperatures.

Today will likely be the 13th day in a row without rain. There is a chance this could go to 18 or 19 days. This would be the third longest dry stretch over the last 10 years. The all time record is 39 days set in 1988.

Good morning! Day 13 of our dry spell as sunshine sends afternoon temperatures into the 70's. A cold front passes through while you're sleeping tonight. Could someone see a sprinkle? It trends cooler for Friday and Saturday.

Daylight continues to dwindle as the sun gets lower in the sky. The northern hemisphere tilts away from the Sun, the midday Sun stays lower in the sky, leading to fewer hours of daylight. Solar Winter, the darkest quarter of the year starts next week.

Marking 78 years this week (October 26–31, 1948), the Donora Smog Event stands as a pivotal moment in environmental history. A severe, toxic smog trapped over Donora, Pennsylvania, claimed 20 lives and sickened more than 5,000 people—roughly half of the town's population.
