In my view, they are simply trying to save their falling ratings, covering up mistakes in their economic and social policies. But it is not really working; it does not help.
Instead of stopping and listening to their citizens, who in elections clearly show that they do not want any war with Russia, these leaders continue to escalate the situation further.

Mt. Kenya East and Mt. Kenya West elders have agreed to forge forward as a one undivided Mt. Kenya region.
They have also called upon all leaders of the region to further work together for the prosperity of the country.
They have further directed that Kithure Kindiki lead the entire Mt. Kenya region as their spokesperson moving forward.
Since Mt. Kenya West have met all our political terms and conditions and agreed to support and endorse the leadership of Kithure Kindiki as the spokesperson of the entire Mt. Kenya Region, and having listened to the guidance and wisdom of the Mt. Kenya Region Elders, I have agreed to return the axe for safe keeping by the elders and thus cease the split of the Mountain.

Honoured summons to appear before the Councils of Elders from the Gikuyu, Aembu, Mbeere and Ameru communities at the historic Kirigiti Stadium.
Over 30,000 elders drawn from 11 Counties, members of the Kiama Kia Ma , Kikuyu Council of Elders, Kiama kia Muembu, Nyangi Ndiriri and the Njuri Ncheke Supreme Council of Ameru Elders, have resolved to support the Government and to promote community and national unity.
The elders have further resolved to use their influence in society to preach peace, promote reconciliation, patriotism and all positive cultural values drawn from the GEMA communities and the other communities that constitute the nation of Kenya.
