We're calling on @SteveBarclay to extend prescribing responsibilities to AHPs.

Plus it looks like @SteveBarclay is certainly open to the proposal, based on his recent words over the weekend about others.
Our professions are perfectly placed to make the most of this! #PrescribingNow

We’re modernising out of date regulatory legislation to harness the full potential of healthcare roles and improve care for patients.
This could also open the door to expand prescribing powers to more staff to free up GPs and improve access to services. telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/02…

19 hours in an ED so far (not to be named) with Mum who has a suspected PE. No blankets, pillows or drinks. 6 hours wait for an ECG despite chest pain presentation. The staff are doing their best but don’t stand a chance, it’s sad.

3/3 The most encouraging part is that there are so many of us who get what a significant issue this is and if we keep pushing on then surely we can start to make a difference? #endpjparalysis #deconditioning #hopitalrelatedfunctionaldecline
2/2 What is clear from the replies I’ve had and the messages (and what I’m discovering from my dissertation) is that this is a pressing problem which isn’t going away. It will take culture change and ongoing education of the whole MDT and education for patients and carers.
1/2 Since tweeting this my inbox is full@of examples from HCPs who’s loved ones have gone through similar experience. What I want to say is that this instance does not relate to a poorly / understaffed unit, nor was it a nurse who said this - it was another member of the team
Writing my dissertation on hospital acquired functional decline / deconditioning and find out today that my Dad has been told he’s “not safe” to get out of bed as there’s “too much paperwork” if he falls #nowords
