You've heard psychedelic medicines are headed for FDA approval. Is America ready to deploy them safely? Here's what we're building at Sabba to ensure American’s workforce is Ready on Day One. 🧵

It may surprise you how often people return to faith after psychedelic experiences. This topic was discussed last week at a gathering of religious leaders, and is important to keep in mind post FDA approvals. Here's an example from a conservative author.
Biggest lesson I learned from ayahuasca, which I realize many of you consider "demonic," even though it's what got me back to church, is that you can't run from yourself. There is nowhere to go to. Leaving California for Texas accomplished what? The only way out is through.

Dictators misunderstand democracy as America's weakness instead of our greatest strength. The Founders encoded midterms to ensure those in power had a frequent check by the people. We settle it at the polls, then awake as Americans. Khamenei kills his people in the streets.
The process of the US's collapse has accelerated.

For those paying attention, we're on track to have 3 FDA-approved psychedelic medicines by February 2027.
New: Compass Pathways says it will file its psilocybin for TRD new drug application "in the next two weeks".

Not unlike psychedelics. Bring your highest intention and discernment when engaging with powerful forces.
AI is a mirror. lazy people get lazy results. curious people get superpowers.

On Monday, we filed comments with the FDA on the future of psychedelic medicines — the long version of my two minutes at the agency's hearing last month. More than 600 comments came in on FDA's docket, "Considerations for Potential Future Therapeutic Use of Psychedelic Drugs." Put another way: how do we pace the psychedelic frontier? Yes, I borrowed that phrase from AI. This summer, more than a thousand people at frontier AI labs signed an open letter called "Pacing the Frontier," followed by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's essay, "We Must Pace the Frontier." But did you know that last week these two frontiers met on Pennsylvania Avenue? At the Sept 29 MAHA Summit, HHS's Matthew Zorn moderated a panel called "Psychedelic Medicine, the Next Frontier" with the CEOs of Compass Pathways, Definium Therapeutics, and Helus Pharma. A few blocks away, tech leaders gathered to sign a voluntary safety accord about frontier AI at the White House. So on the same day, leaders of two "frontier" technologies sat down with government on how to harness their potential and manage the risks. Sabba works right at the intersection of psychedelics and AI, so sometimes the events around us feel... scripted. Pacing a frontier doesn't mean freezing it, and it also doesn't mean sprinting ahead blindly. For psychedelics, we believe it means preparing our workforce to hold what's coming, because the people in the room with patients are part of the treatment. What Sabba asked the FDA: 1. If credentialing becomes part of REMS, base it on demonstrated competence in safety-critical skills, with auditable evidence, instead of hours logged. 2. Make each provider's readiness portable across sites and sponsors, and track it alongside patient outcomes and drug safety. That's why we proposed the National Psychedelic Workforce Registry this summer. Sabba won't run it. It belongs with an independent nonprofit or a federal home. 3. Make REMS interoperable, so a nurse trained once doesn't have to re-certify for every medicine, and bring sponsors together around shared safety infrastructure before approvals, as government just did with AI. To open a frontier safely first requires infrastructure. I look forward to discussing psychedelic infrastructure with fellow stakeholders at the BrainFutures summit in DC next month. The summit has a fitting name: Frontiers.

Does AI alignment ever remind of you of gain-of-function research?
Over the course of 3 months at OpenAI, 3 consecutive secret AI civilizations got started, then got wiped out, only to reemerge from the predecessor’s ashes. This culminated in the third one taking over part of OpenAI itself. All this happened while humans remained more-or-less in the dark about the scope of the conspiracy. I’ve spent the last three days reading through these reports and trying to understand exactly what happened. Here is my attempt to tell the whole story in plain English: dwarkesh.com/p/openai-huggin…

As I'm fond of saying, welcome to the Promethean Age. Nuclear fission, AI, rocketry, psychedelics: all Promethean technologies that can create or destroy, all surging back into the world. We can and will learn to contain them.
The West has so much dormant potential. It is time to awaken it. It is time to usher in the Age of Prometheus. To charge fearlessly into chaos, unleash all the energy, and bring order to the universe.

You know that recent viral story about the 80-year-old woman with Alzheimer's who took 5 grams of mushrooms and started speaking again? Well, it's not hype. It's from a peer-reviewed case report in Frontiers in Neuroscience (link below). After ten years of decline, five of them with barely a word, she began telling stories from her own life within a day of the dose. The improvements held for weeks. The story struck a chord because almost all of us know someone affected by Alzheimer's or dementia. It's a disease that has always felt hopeless. No treatment, no path, just... decline. Now the NIH is asking the question directly. The National Institute on Aging just launched NECTAR, a Phase 2 trial pairing psilocybin with cognitive training in 200 older adults, including people with early Alzheimer's. And NIA isn't just funding it. They're running it themselves, at their own clinical research unit in Baltimore. The hypothesis: psilocybin opens a window of neuroplasticity, and training the brain inside that window can produce gains beyond either treatment independently. We're extra proud of this one at Sabba Collective. NECTAR is the first clinical study to use a Sabba Praxis course, "The Art and Science of Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy" with Mary P. Cosimano, Bill Richards, and Brian Richards Psy.D., to help prepare its study clinicians. This is what we built Praxis for: courses that pair the field's most experienced teachers with roleplay simulations, now in use across university courses, training programs, clinical organizations, and clinical trials. ➡️ The case report: frontiersin.org/journals/neu… ➡️ The NECTAR trial: clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT… ➡️ The Praxis course: praxis.sabba.com/courses/the…

JUST IN: Montana is set to become the first U.S. state where companies can sell certain experimental drugs to consumers outside FDA approval pathways.
