The question everyone asked after: who's accountable when an agent pays?
Know-your-agent on both sides. Buyer agent and merchant agent, each traceable to a verified identity through regulated providers.
That's the part that lets banks in.
Builders went straight to trade finance, pay-per-use healthcare, and games where agents unlock items.

So we let AI agents run the day.
Every attendee scanned a QR at the door.
Got an XDC AI wallet.
Got $3 in USDC.
200+ wallets × $3. Over $600 seeded before anyone wrote a line of code.
Then their agent did the rest.
"Order me an americano." Paid.
XDC merch. Paid.
Promo codes. Paid.
Check-in. Handled.
No card. Not once.
By close, agents had moved $1,000+ in USDC on xdce-crowd-sale:native. We covered every fee, so nobody needed a gas token. Nobody needed to know what gas is.
That's the part I care about.
I went to two other hackathons in October. Great rooms. Same feeling at both. The AI productivity jump everyone keeps promising is still a long way off, because agents can think but they can't pay.
We just ran 200 people through the paying part in one day.
