I've always believed Oxford Street could be so much more than a road.
Today we begin a new chapter as the nation’s high street goes traffic free, creating a place where people can spend time, enjoy the atmosphere and experience the very best of our city.

ALT Mayor of London Sadiq Khan stands on a large green installation on Oxford Street featuring the words “Welcome to the New Oxford St”. Surrounding signs read “Oxford St is changing”, “More space”, “Less traffic” and “We’re just getting started”, with shops, street decorations and pedestrians visible along the road behind.

Obama: "The guy has become billions of dollars wealthier in office. Nobody disputes this! It's just -- how do you do that when you're supposed to be looking out for you? And the worst part of it not a single Republican in Congress has done anything to stop it."

Good to be part of the meeting between the Prime Minister @andyburnham and LABRATS today.
We’re committed to listening to nuclear test veterans, supporting them and honouring their service.
Today @wesstreeting and I met some of the representatives of the nuclear veteran community.
We talked about what the veterans and their families have been through and what matters most to them now. This is the start of a conversation, not the end, and we'll be working together on next steps.

What is the charge? Having a lunch? A succulent oyster champagne lunch?
Robert Jenrick says Nigel Farage’s “sole involvement” in the donation investigation was to “have lunch.”
“You can't criticise a leader for saying thank you over lunch to someone … being polite is not a crime these days.”

Sagal was brought up in Camden and has earned the right to stand for her community through her hard work and talent.
Judging her by where she was born rather than all she’s done for her borough is prejudiced, racist and wrong and goes against all London stands for.

“An absolute cover-up.”
Ex-Veterans Minister Tobias Ellwood says the UK Nuclear Test Veterans “scandal” is bigger than infected blood, post office scandals and Windrush, "because of the longevity this has been going on and the number of people involved".

No cap, no Royal Commission discussions, we must just ban foreign influence in our politics - and get on with it - now.
Those who choose to move their wealth abroad, to not contribute to our country, should lose the right to be a political donor.

Very pleased to have been re-elected to Labour’s NEC for a third term, and to see all @LabToWin candidates elected.
These results send a clear message: keep building on the changes we’ve made, stay united and secure a second term Labour Government.
Thank you for putting your trust in me again.

Council and social housing must be at the heart of any serious and credible solution to the housing crisis. That message has remained consistent - and it won’t change.
Today I met with the Housing Secretary @AngelaRayner and the @MayorofLondon to talk about today’s announcement, the scale of the challenge, and the response needed to meet it.
This must ultimately be about people - ensuring that those facing desperate housing situations, and those without a safe and secure place to call home, finally get one.
