People might save whole pennies! Rejoice!
This is a good policy & better than what those criticising Burnham are suggesting.

This will make Reeves and Starmer look like geniuses who truly had their fingers on the pulse of ordinary peopleโ€™s lives. Amazingly inept and robotically out of touch.
When fuel prices are high, finding the best deal matters. That's why we've launched Fuel Finder in @googlemaps, helping you compare prices more easily and find your cheapest local option.

Too many people are killed on our roads. They are not an enviable consequence of travelling by vehicle. All are preventable. Driver behaviour is central and active and visible enforcement plays an important role in this. How often do you see roads police on patrol?

Laughable. Diesel price is unprecedented & the PM is patronising us with a solution that already exists in many free apps. If he was serious he'd cut fuel duty by 10p a litre until Christmas: 12p off at the pump. People need real help, not app features rebranded as Gov policy.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to. ย  The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact. ย  But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help. ย  That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up. ย  It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

We need to see more signs allowing cyclists to ride contray to the flow of traffic on one way streets. Many one way streets make sense for motor vehicles, but there's no reason they should apply to cyclists, or even motorcyclists. Rochester High St is an example

Itโ€™s a universal constant that all illiberal bullies punching down on a weak minority outgroup are drowning in self-pity as they implausibly claim to be the real victims. Sheโ€™d be very at home in Reform.
UK politics has rarely seemed as dispiriting, discouraging & even frightening as it does now. On one side populist nationalism & xenophobia, on the other antisemitism & bullying, authoritarian, illiberal trans ideology which denies women & LGB people sex-based rights. Dire.

But you're more than happy to back a system that might gift Reform (or any party) an absolute parliamentary majority on around 1/3 of the popular vote, as long as it means "buggins turn" for Labour in due course.
In recent days, I have heard Labour supporters of PR say that Labour should *NOT* go into coalition with the Greens. I've heard the same in the past said about the nationalist parties. No government with Reform, I assume, is a given with them. So how exactly is Labour meant to govern under PR? Under the perpetual thumb of the Liberal Democrats -- a party whose current leader was a Cabinet minister in a Conservative-led government?? Since 1945, Labour has won 9 majority governments. Tories have won 10. But let's throw that all away for... governing at the mercy of the whims of the Lib Dems. Great idea.... ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

We clocked lots of motorway yesterday. It was remarkable how drivers were responding to the increasing cost of fuel by driving at lower speeds and executing careful manoeuvres to maximise efficiency. Only joking, speeds still too high and reckless behaviour too commonplace.

We need real action from the PM on Europe, not more hesitation. The Liberal Democrats have a plan to strengthen our economy, cut living costs, and boost defence by rejoining the Single Market, Customs Union, and working with our European partners. These issues cannot wait.

China got bigger - there are a billion of them so itโ€™s no disgrace that we didnโ€™t grow quite as fast as them!
We were the 5th biggest economy in the world when we joined the eec & 6th when we left. There is no data that backs up the claim that our economy grew in size because of a 1993 treaty change.

Rejoining the Single Market will see ยฃ92 billion extra to our GDP. Margaret Thatcher created the SM, to ensure European Economics were interdependent. I suggest @afneil reads the following @Independent piece on us rejoining the SM: independent.co.uk/news/uk/poโ€ฆ

Replying to @afneil
@afneil have you seen the report which says we can gain ยฃ92 billion GDP if we rejoined the Single Market. @EdwardJDavey absolutely right to position the @LibDems committed to rejoining the Single Market and Customs Union. We did help to create the Single Market under Thatcher.
Ed โ€˜Dismalโ€™ Davey explicitly said in his Lib Dem conference speech that rejoining the single market/customs union would generate so much extra economic growth that there would be enough extra revenue to pay for the multi-billion pound tax cuts he proposed in the same speech. So the LD MP can hardly now claim growth is โ€˜irrelevantโ€™.

I really hope the PM is serious about fixing care, and he can show it by getting on with the cross-party talks we started in July. This canโ€™t just be a series of No10 headlines with no real action. Iโ€™ll do everything I can to put family carers at the heart of any solution.
BREAKING: Andy Burnham says he is going to "rip the plaster off" to fix broken social care system. New system will be universal, free at the point of use, and funded by everybody, he says, and Labour will fight next general election on delivering it. PM says annual cost is "not as high" as the ยฃ18bn a year that has been suggested - and that he will take his time to work out how it will be paid for. "The challenge in public finances is real so it has to be done carefully to avoid putting pressure on the public purse," he tells @bbclaurak

This screenshot is directly from the UK government website. It says you must tax your car or motorcycle before you drive it. There are no concessions or exemptions for cyclists. They still have to tax their car or motorcycle before they drive it, just like "the rest of us".
I donโ€™t understand why they have spent ยฃmillions on cycle lanes, narrowed the driving lanes making the roads more congested when you see hardly any cyclists using them & they donโ€™t even pay car tax like the rest of us do. Surely cars should take priority.
