I think entrepreneurs sometimes get so focused on the next milestone that they forget to recognize what they've already accomplished.
I'm certainly guilty of that.
There's always another company to build, another opportunity to explore, or another goal to chase.
Every once in a while, take a minute to appreciate the journey and the people who helped you get there!
The older I get, the more I appreciate people who can disagree without making things personal. (I know that is an unheard of idea, especially on social media)
But some of the best decisions I've made came after someone challenged my thinking!
You don't want a room full of "yes men". You need a room full of people who are chasing the same goal!
You learn a lot about someone's character when there's no immediate benefit to helping you.
I've had people show up for me during some pretty difficult moments in business. Those are the relationships you never forget!
When you're building your network, don't look for people who can help you, look for people you can help!
I've always believed you should have a life outside your business.
Spend time with your family. Get out on the water. Play some golf. Make memories that truly matter!
There will always be another email, another meeting, and another problem to solve.
There won't always be another opportunity to spend that afternoon with the people you love!
One of the things I enjoy most about entrepreneurship is that you never really stop learning.
I've been at this for more than 30 years, and I can still walk into a conversation with another business owner and come away with an idea I hadn't considered.
There is always more experience to be found and learned from. Never stop growing!
One thing experience has taught me is that you can make a good decision and still get a bad outcome.
You can't control every variable in business. What matters is whether you made the decision with the right information, the right people, and a clear understanding of the risks.
Then you learn, adapt quickly, and keep moving forward!
Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

At 7 stores, you can know almost everything happening in the business.
At 200 plus stores, that is impossible.
One of the biggest lessons I learned building Talk More Wireless was that the systems that get you started are rarely the systems that allow you to scale.
Build the infrastructure before growth forces you to.
When we were operating more than 200 wireless stores, I learned very quickly that you cannot manage scale by simply adding more managers.
Eventually the business becomes too large for leadership by observation.
You need systems in place that tell you what is happening BEFORE the problem reaches your desk.
After 30+ years in business, I have become more convinced that leadership is largely about multiplying other people.
Give talented people clarity.
Give them responsibility.
Give them room to execute.
You do not need hundreds of relationships to build an extraordinary business.
You need the right relationships.
People with integrity. People with experience. People willing to tell you what you need to hear.
I’m a big believer in speed, but speed without clarity just gets you lost faster.
Know what matters.
Know who owns it.
Know how you are measuring it.
Then charge forward relentlessly!
Founders often wait too long to build systems because everything still feels manageable.
Then growth arrives and exposes every weakness at once.
The best time to create operating discipline is before you desperately need it.
There is a huge difference between having a network and having people who will answer the phone when you need them.
Your network isn't who you know, it's who knows you!
I have never seen a business plan survive exactly as written.
Markets change. People change. Capital changes. Customers change.
Planning still matters.
But the real advantage is building a team capable of making good decisions when the plan stops matching reality.
Some relationships give you advice. Some give you access. Some give you perspective.
A few completely change what is possible.
Those are force multipliers.
Learn to recognize them, invest in them, AND be one for others!
