Peter Obi Is Not Your TikTok Coin Collector!
There is a difference between simplicity and oversimplicity. There is also a difference between good intentions and doing what is right. If nobody is willing to speak up, I will keep speaking. You don't have to like it, but somebody has to say it. #obidientmovement #Peterobi #atruthatatime

People watched this video and be like “ he has clarified”.
Clarified what?
This is clearly a betrayal of trust by this government.
We were promised a coastal highway and we defended the project with the notion that it was indeed a coastal highway.
Taking about terrain, cost and completion as a legitimate excuse is pedestrian, lazy and disingenuous.
What are you invariably saying is that this government started the project with no plan and assessment.

The only proof in this Gele conversation is “my grandma wore it in 1960,” as if their history started in 1960.
Oya, prove to us that you have been wearing it before making contact with the Yoruba. Show us a picture, artwork, or peer-reviewed research from the 19th century that proves your great-grandmothers truly wore elaborate headwear.
Tell us how those who didn’t have enough clothes to cover their bodies had enough to tie elaborate headwear.

Keep it in the files please! It is GELE!!! And it belongs to the Yoruba people.

Dr. Azeezat Abiola Amusat (Yoruba gele specialist known as Queen of Gele) tied Beyoncé’s pink headwrap in Black Is King. 2020 reports and her own accounts confirm this and call it gele. The exhibition banner uses that same image labeled ICHAFU, applying the Igbo term to a look documented as gele.

May God bless the day the Yoruba ancestors invented GELE.
This craft is so beautiful that some people are trying to claim it.
May God bless the Yoruba women who made this beautiful craft well known to the world 🌎 ❤️

The gele is sitting comfortably in the Oxford English Dictionary, while some culture vultures are trying to create a culture in 2026.

It’s as if liberal Yorùbás still don’t get it. This has nothing to do with exposure or being “woke.” The beauty of cultural identity lies in knowing your heritage and being unapologetic about preserving it.
Why are we so desperate to appear progressive that we cannot even defend our own cultural heritage? Every culture protects what is theirs, yet when it comes to Yorùbá culture, some of you would rather remain silent than risk being called ignorant or tribalistic.
Now people are claiming gèlè as Ìchàfụ̀, and some of you are more concerned with appearing enlightened than questioning the historical and cultural claims being made.
You can respect other cultures without surrendering your own. Being open-minded should never mean being historically clueless about your own identity.
One day, your children may inherit your indifference and grow up disconnected from the very culture you were supposed to preserve.
THIS IS GÈLÈ. At what point will you people stop confusing cultural erasure with progress? Have you no shame?
