Ostensibly she pretty much has for the most part, but she’ll make it official.
🚨BREAKING: Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) just endorsed Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins for governor — bypassing President Trump’s candidate Bernadette Wilson just days before the election.
There are three Republicans on the ballot: Trump-endorsed Bernadette Wilson, Dave Bronson, and Treg Taylor. Murkowski chose the sole Democrat instead.
Her father, former Gov. Frank Murkowski, joined other past governors in backing Kreiss-Tomkins the same day. Murkowski called the Democrat a “freshness of energy” and a “commonsense guy” who works across the aisle, while suggesting the Republican candidates are too partisan.
Trump endorsed Wilson at a recent Alaska rally and has repeatedly criticized Murkowski, most recently calling her the “Republicans’ Worst Senator, by far.” Alaska voted for Trump in the last three presidential elections.
This is the same senator who has crossed party lines before. With the ranked-choice system and a split Republican field, her endorsement lands in the final week.
