Things are tough out there for the humanities and colleagues in the field. So when some good news comes along we need to take the opportunity to celebrate it. We are delighted to congratulate newly minted Professor @SarahLBastow + Reader @RE_histories. Well deserved! @CHICAMatHud

Awesome stuff today @EdinburghTVFest. Currently watching BAME British reality TV stars from shows like the only way is Essex having really important and necessary discussions about diversity and representation in TV.

First day @EdinburghTVFest in the bag! Great interview/Q&A with the controller of BBC 2 at the end and fascinating insights from other industry professionals throughout
Long shot but please PM me if you have a copy of Beryl Gilroy’s book, ‘Black Teacher’, that I could borrow via post before the coming Wednesday. I’ll pay any postage fees, and have it back ASAP.
Super excited to announce that I've been accepted onto the PhD Talent Scheme at this years @EdinburghTVFest! variety.com/2020/tv/global/e…
Why have a new race inquiry and head it with someone who does not believe in institutional racism? As if that’s something you can choose to believe in. Race inquiries since the 80s have consistently found that institutional racism is at the core of the problem!
My institution, @HuddersfieldUni has published an essay that I wrote about racism, history and the murder of George Floyd on our main news page: hud.ac.uk/news/2020/june/geo… @HeritagePhD @HistoryatHud @socialhistsoc @RoyalHistSoc @HistEdSocUK
People like to think that things like the Coronavirus are man made because it’s more comforting than the realisation that even the most powerful people in the world can’t control everything.

The Royal Historical Society is appalled today to see our colleague, Fellow, and Vice President @OlivetteOtele subjected to racist hate mail. This underscores the need to deepen our commitment to addressing the inequalities which foster such vile, unacceptable attitudes.

After being involved in two (count em!) Impact Case Studies, thought this might be a good idea. Pleased to be able to collaborate with @HistorianCrime. Will be of interest to @mhmhudds and @mcphh_mmu but please RT widely.
Currently screening my MA documentary ‘Dispersing the problem: Immigrant children in Huddersfield during the 1960s and 1970s’ at Pontefract New College’s own cinema!
Everyone should read this! “The point to be made...is that education at all levels has never come to terms with the imperial xenophobia, arrogance and ignorance that continues to be demonstrated before and after the Brexit vote”
