The drive to war – it’s always the working class who pay!
There is a growing push by the British establishment towards more militarism, through increased military spending. The government talk about ‘warfighting readiness’, and broader conversations about ‘sacrifice’ and conscription stoke notions of an impending threat-that we have to be prepared for war.
Working class people have the most to lose from this establishment narrative taking hold. It makes way for the justification of cuts to services and social security, more military spending and makes war sound like an inevitability rather than a choice.
Harry Patch (one of the last living Tommy’s from WW1) said it best when he said:
“I felt then, as I feel now, that the politicians who took us to war should have been given the guns and told to settle their differences themselves, instead of organising nothing better than legalised mass murder”
Rise resolutely opposes increased military spending, conscription and the drive to war. We won’t see our kids and our class butchered for the profits and interests of the rich and powerful.

No union worth their salt should be threatening a member with expulsion for speaking their opinion. Trade unions must be the bastions of free speech, whether they agree or disagree with what a member says.
I am a young trade unionist in the GMB currently under threat of expulsion from my union

As part of the anti-war movement in Britain, we really will need to build an uncompromising anti-conscription movement – working-class kids are not fodder for the ruling classes’ wars

The silence of British trade unions in the face of the Labour Prime Minister proudly supplying a billion pound corporation with free labour is damning

Anybody on the "left" in Britain should be actively working to oppose this work "opportunity" scheme being pushed by Burnham - it undermines workers wages, weakens organised labour, and paves the way for the further exploitation of younger workers - this is basic stuff

1000% agree and have been saying this for a while that we are entering a new golden era of creativity thanks to AI. Where my fellow punk rock AI creatives at? filmmakers, vibe coders, artists… let me know what you’re making.

Never mind the ethics of AI use, we need to establish the etiquette. Inviting me to read LLM-generated text without telling me that's what it is, as though you'd written it yourself, is _rude_
