New from me: A union president and a retired Teamster testified in New Jersey yesterday that it’s wrong to reclassify at least some independent contractors Because the state's looming Oct. 1 ABC Test rule threatens their own families' side hustles, too freelancebusting.com/p/well-…

I seriously can't believe what I'm reading right now I'm looking online to figure out who New Jersey Assemblyman Angelozzi's wife is, after the Assemblyman testified this morning that we must pass a carveout bill to protect amateur sports officials like his wife from the state's looming ABC Test rule to determine independent-contractor status Assemblyman Angelozzi is president of a local teachers' union here in New Jersey: njleg.state.nj.us/legislativ… And his wife is vice president: njea.org/focusing-on-members… That would mean this carveout bill that there was so much testimony about today in Trenton is being spearheaded by a union officer (!) who is trying to save his own family's independent-contractor side gig from the NJDOL's looming ABC Test rule The bill is only for amateur sports officials. It leaves out all the other kinds of 1.7 million independent contractors in the state whose incomes and careers are being threatened too

New from me: New Jersey Senate President Nick Scutari, with the October 1 deadline fast approaching on the state's independent-contractor rule, has asked Governor Mikie Sherrill to delay the rule’s implementation until July 1, 2027 freelancebusting.com/p/sever…

6 years of unrelenting government attacks on our freedom to be our own bosses, condensed into a 5-minute speech and these 2 key sentences: "This is not targeting employee misclassification. This is weaponizing regulatory language to attack independent contractors."
