I didn’t know partisan games would make me drive from the hospital to Lansing on the same day of my daughter’s birth to break a tie and stop the GOP from blocking a commonsense budget, but like I promised the voters who trusted me: I will be here when work needs to be done.

Thank you to @steelworkers District 1 for the endorsement! Michigan has a long history as an industrial state and the United Steelworkers have been at the foundation of protecting the workers and their families who built that industrial might. I’m proud to stand alongside them.

The Republican Speaker can’t do his job, so he doesn’t want anyone else to either.

Yesterday, Republicans rammed a budget through the house that was nowhere near ready for prime time with only an hour’s notice. Michiganders deserve better than an 11th hour rush job.

The Republicans missed their deadline, asked the people of Michigan for an extension, and still turned in a work product that looks like they stayed up all night to cram it in. This bill is filled with typos, but unfortunately, that’s not the worst thing about it.
