JOG Librarian

BOOOooks! We're reading spooktastic thrillers, ghost stories, gripping gothic novels & some of us are even braving horrors (shhh, not me!) Library mascot 'Mortimer' is sporting a new pumpkin-coloured autumnal beret crocheted by Y7 Kyra! Happy Hallowe'en! (Love your Library).

Always tissues in the school library. Y8s have finished Of Mice & Men ... proper sobbing! Tissues handed out, kind words, lots of chat about other books, films, TV that has really moved them, & a handful of new books to take away & read. Worlds of empathy, worlds of history..

I think #30DaysWild @EcoSchools Eco Club is rubbing off on people! Excited chat about a fantastic Lappet Moth seen - & identified by Miss Clarkson. Wish I'd seen it! We have such lovely school grounds & notebook dog is delighted! @savebutterflies butterfly-conservation.org/m…

Had a lovely visit from @HantsSLS last week ... so much good stuff & support coming from there, digitally & in lovely book form - I LOVE surprising the students with how up to date & relevant our books are, too!

Huge excitement around the latest #newbooks in the @jog_school Library. Our @EcoClub student leaders asked for more books on the climate & ecological crises (including how to take action) & we also needed a bit of escapism with some thrillers! Thank you @HantsSLS Top Books!

Highlight of the last week of term @jog_school. As a treat, I offered to read my book group of catch up readers, an entire ghost story myself (it’s what we’re into at the moment). But each student offered to share the reading! Reluctant readers? Not! So proud of them!

School Librarian - Covid Test Centre Assistant! Along with my lovely colleagues from the Senior Leadership Team, & the School community, we’re helping beat this virus! Little bit emosh to witness our students overcoming nerves, reassuring classmates, making history! Go #JOGFamily

A hot chocolate surprise (with cream AND melty marshmallows) from our lovely Staff Wellbeing Team @jog_school! No one is forgotten, even those on break duty. Such a supportive & thoughtful bunch of people to work with #JOGfamily

Some great new books in from @HantsSLS on our term’s theme of identity & difference @jog_school A wise Y9 student browsing them remarked “books tend to take & recognise cultural leaps before TV & film don’t they Miss?” Oh yes. Yes they do ...

Hey @Biggreenbooks popping up to say a big student THANK YOU to @spacedlaw who took part in #BuyAStrangerABook day ... it’s great to have #100GreatBlackBritons in our School Library, to inspire & help address an imbalance. THANK YOU again!
