100% endorse this and hope it remains the case all season, even if the worst should happen. 16th in the Championship to Europe - best manager in my life. As somebody that lived through Reidy being replaced by Wilko in a similar situation, be careful what you wish for.
🚨 Régis Le Bris’ position as Sunderland Head Coach is safe — and he continues to have the full support and confidence of Sunderland’s hierarchy.
🇫🇷 The Frenchman remains central to #SAFC plans and ambitions, despite the club sitting bottom of the Premier League table. The belief within the club is the 50-year-old will turn things around.
⬇️ There is an internal recognition that recent Premier League results have been disappointing, and the club understand current frustrations felt by supporters.
🫡 The club believe stability, collective responsibility and a united approach is the way forward for #SAFC as they look to achieve their ambitions, both domestically and in Europe.
Big Jules is different gravy. Start him against Bournemouth and put Enzo on the left. The two midfield runners in front of Xhaka 😍
Just absolutely love this Sunderland team. Everything you want to see as a football fan. Even when 5-3 down and in stoppage time, still chasing every ball and trying to put them under pressure. Near misses won't get us any points but how far we've come as a club.
An icon. Only Reidy comes close in my lifetime. Here's to the next 100.
🔴⚪️ Sunday’s game against Manchester City will be Regis Le Bris’ 100th in charge of Sunderland.
👏 Genuinely one of the best head coaches I’ve seen at Sunderland in my lifetime. A tremendous tactician, brilliant with the players and just one of the most lovely people you could meet too.
🙌 Some milestone - and some time in charge of the club seeing them promoted to the Premier League, finish 7th and qualify for Europe for the first time in 53 years.
🗣️ Regis: “It feels like a sprint! It’s been a some journey. We’ve created something impressive with the fans and this is just the beginning I hope…”
What a night ❤️🤍
All the heartache and pain. The relegations and near misses. The years in the League One doldrums. Players and owners that didn't care. Being the butt of every joke. Seeing our stadium dropping to bits.
For tonight, it was all worth it.
Love the new Culture House 😍 What an amazing facility to have in @SunderlandUK.
If it takes 5 minutes to decide it's not clear and obvious. VAR the worst thing to ever happen to football. Pathetic.
Probably in the minority here but I'd rather we signed nobody than start to cave on valuation tomorrow and panic buy. Deadline day signings not traditionally that successful for us - from Ndong to Grigg to Rusyn - so I'd rather keep our powder dry in that scenario.
Love @IsidorWilson. Occasionally you get these players that come to the area and just fully embrace it - Quinny, Bally, Julio, O'Nien and now Wilson. Club gets under their skin and eventually they become one of us. Can't wait to see Wilson tear up the Europa League.
Not good enough in the final third, sloppy in possession and too many mistakes at the back. Early reminder that you've got to be 100% at it every game at this level if you want to get points on the board.
Never heard of him and doesn't even have a Wikipedia page - already know he's going to be mint.
🚨🔴⚪️ Sunderland agree deal to sign Jules Ahoka from Antwerp, here we go! Deal done on permanent move.
Travel booked today for 2006 born midfielder from RD Congo joining #SAFC project, wanted by director Ghisolfi.
There's a new version of this post
Who needs signings when you've got connections like that all over the pitch? Remember watching Rayo play us off the park last pre-season, that was us today. A good, well established team. Still need to add depth but keeping this team together is the most important thing.
